In Germany, the phone went on sale at more than 700 T-Mobile shops, including one in Cologne that opened just after midnight with some 350 customers already waiting outside...

and even though apple software insists on dominating any machine it touches, you can be the EU won't be bringing antitrust charges against Apple, in order to shake them down.
It's all in the logo.

It's all in the logo. Apple's world wide advertising campaign for it's iPhone has led to the iPhone becoming a household name.

The same can be said of any multimedia software, from Winamp to iTunes.

I think France, at least, may already have filed charges against Apple, over iTunes and the iTunes Store. They were threatening to do so early this year.
Apple replied that if charged or sued, they would simply close the French store.

they would simply close the French store. I don't think the French will sue. Even though they are not very astute (blinded by all that wine), they won't turn down extra revenue from a very viable source.

LOL.
Now please, let it drop.

I’m surprised that Apple released the iPhone in Europe so early given that it lacks HSDPA broadband Internet through a 3G network (HSDPA is fairly common in Europe).

Im surprised that Apple released the iPhone in Europe so early... Got me on that one. But I do know that with the huge success of the iPhone here in the states, Apple will do quite nicely in Europe. Also, I'm wondering if the sales in Germany will approach the 1.2 million mark as was the case here in the first two months.

Considering the huge success of the iPhone, the iPod and the latest iPod that came out this month, and the immense strength and increasing market share of Mac sales, that they didn't put the target level at $285/300ish.

I don't think that's out of the question, when you consider that the Mac still has 94% of the computer market share left to conquer. This, and not the iPhone, is where the real growth prospects are.
Apple hasn't even begun a real effort to get into general business offices. Even the XServe is marketed primarily to their traditional users in graphics shops, university departments, research laboratories, and the like.
As Windows founders in a festering pile of viruses, spyware, and bloated code, I think more and more people and companies are going to see the wisdom of Apple's approach.

It's earnings would have to increase ridiculously to get to 600/share. Even if it hits it's estimated 2009 earning-- which assumes 50% earning growth annually--It'd be traded at 98x earnings for 2009. That's Nasdaq '99 level.
