Nice video at the link. Unfortunately there is no text to post.
Beat me to it.
I thought this was a story about Algore.
So Al Gore is pro-life and is giving back all those awards for A Convenient Lie? Welcome back to sanity, Al!
That`s odd,
algore is brain dead yet, not in a coma.
Go figure.
I was protesting the murder of Schiavo, too, but one brain-damage case isn't the same as another.
If it were me, somewhere down the road when I would be in the process of getting my life back together, I would check if I voted during those years I was under.
Parental oversight should trump civil law when that being ha no one else!
Would you be saying that if the parents wanted the person put to death, and the spouse wanted him or her kept alive?
Be honest.
But that wasnt the case...was it...
No--but you and I are in agreement on that specific case--that's not the issue. The issue is, you said it was the parents' decision, and I simply asked "Even if they choose to kill the patient?"
So--what's the answer?
I had a dear friend who, last spring, had a sudden stroke and slipped into a coma. The family pulled the plug just after 3 days!
This was a woman whose mother and aunt lived into their 90's. She was 71.
A kinder, less judgmental person would've been hard to find.
She took care of her invalid mother for nearly 20 years. Her worthless, non-working brother lived with her for 20 years. Her husband was an invalid - Alzheimer's = and she cared for him for years.
When it came her time - just pull the plug...and in the church, at her memorial service - just the little cardboard box sitting on a small bare table - not even a cloth in a Catholic church full of nice white linen clothes...not a photo, not a flower.
At the house later, where refreshments were served, there was a picture of her - sitting between the sliced ham and the rolls.
I'm still seething.
Doctors always give people a chance. As a matter of fact, if you don’t have a living will, they’ll keep you on forever. And, guess what ? The 100s of thousands in medical bills get billed to you, the family, ruining you. Do you want to leave your loved ones with tremendeous debt ? If it’s one’s time to go, it’s time to go. However, there are different kinds of brain injuries - some more than other. For example, people missing 2/3s of their brain are not alive nor congnizant nor anything else, as much as sometimes their family would like to believe it. Those in a coma with far lesser injuries should be given a chance. But this is what the wills are for and why these things should be discussed with the family ahead of time.
Ping!
Actually...it was another poster...
"Those that defend us with their lives deserve our highest respect and honor. Those that subvert our republic's ideals deserve a traitor's fate."
Should be a bumper sticker
Interesting how I've not gotten answers from either of you, though.
What a horrible story. At least you remember what a kind, giving person she was. Perhaps you can do something in her memory if you haven’t already done so.
