That was amazing last night. By the time he was through I was howling. Gotta get a transcript. He really put that congressman down, didn’t he?

Here is a rough translation of her article:

For the first time in the history of our country (Mexico), the Mexican House of Representatives and the Senate has organized the first Parliament for Mexican Migrants November 16 and 17 in Mexico City, to highlight the Mexican migrants’ demands…we all know this is not just an issue for the United States, but for our Mexican government as well, and must be made a priority….I am happy that I soon will be able to see so many of the friends I have made with whom I have struggled in recent years. I also hope that they will be able to get to know the families that have been so cruelly separated.

As all we know, many migrant leaders will not be able to attend this parliament because of the unjust laws under which they live in the U.S. {that is, if illegals leave the U.S. to attend the parliament, they won’t be able to get back in because of “unjust” laws.}…and this is why I am letting you know that I will be at the parliament, and will stand firm on my principles concerning the subject of migration….{bunch of stuff soliciting suggestions, then}…It is resolved that we Mexicans in the United States are not going to stop until each undocumented person and each family with an undocumented member receives equal treatment, that is, lawful working status, the right to travel {back and forth between the country of origin}, the right to keep their family united {in the U.S., of course, no one is saying they can’t go back to Mexico} as any other human being. In addition, it is resolved that we demand that the Latin members of the U.S. Congress take a firm position with the Democratic leadership to force them to act to protect the families of the undocumented and their citizen children and spouses.

In addition it is resolved that we join with our families and communities in Mexico to make a call on the Mexican government to stop all trade negotiations, investment, security and anti-narcotic cooperation with the United States until the situation of the undocumented is resolved in suitable form {that is, until they are all given amnesty.}

…it is resolved that Mexicans in the U.S. join with communities in Mexico to conduct a binational boycott against merchandise produced by North American corporations, until the undocumented situation is resolved…it is resolved the non-cooperation begin on December 12 {the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe}with a day of speeches, through May 1, 2008 {the reds’ May Day} culminating with a march on Washington D.C. coordinated with demonstrations in Mexico and other Latin American countries….thank you for your continuing confidence…Elvira
