Not all children need to adopted into a two parent home. Those with histories of long term sexual abuse do better in same gender households, at least until the are past a certain degree of trauma. And for the sake of those of the opposite sex, these kids have blurred lines between fact and fiction, time is elastic and the most innocent behavior reads differently to them.
So “he/she touched me there!” may have happened 2 months ago with the abuser, not 2 days ago with the adoptive parent.
Children who are suffering serious emotional problems as a result of being sexually abused probably should not be adopted by anyone.
I don’t understand all of the support here for the idea that single people should be allowed to adopt children. Up until fairly recently, this was not allowed and for good reason. Children need two parents and, in most cases, married couples do a much better job of raising children than single people do. I guess what you are really saying in your post is that some children do not need fathers, which is ridiculous.
