Planting evidence and false report could still get him time. In any case, his Army career is over.
Thanks for the info, bhfred. Not guilty of murder? Lesser charges - are they planting evidence, like the AK 47? This sounds like a positive sign for Evan’s upcoming hearing.
Hensley needs to testify at Evan’s Art. 32 that he ordered Evan to shoot, both times. Wouldn’t be any skin off his ass.
Don’t have any info on what Hensley was found guilty of.
He is a junior enlisted man....a specialist.
I’m excited for him, but honestly, RR, if I were his chaplain, I’d advise him to move on. It is a tough thing to overcome a bad mark in a file. They are a bit more lenient with junior enlisted.
It is significantly different for an NCO or an officer. Their promotions are by boards, and they are competing against a host of others who will not have any such black marks at all. Additionally, I would guess that Hensley would lose rank and would have to climb back up again.
There are so many other things such as “show cause boards,” RIFs, etc. that he would always be among the first to have his name come up. I speak this as one who has expertise with the army. But, my sense is that the Marine Corps would be harder instead of easier.
We’re mixing topics on this thread, but these guys are Army so it falls in your area of expertise.

If they were casing that neighborhood, then they believed it to be an insurgent stronghold. If one of them come walking up, since there is no uniform, then that soul was one of the enemy. They had to assume that.
