The more troubling thing is that there are better candidates, better conservative candidates, than Rudy. Yet some ‘conservatives’ here would rather throw their support behind him now.

There is an element in the Republican Party that has an agenda that is pretty much limited to eliminating or reducing tax rates on capital gains and dividends. Why? Because some of these folks don't have to work for a living and receive nearly all of their income from capital gains and dividends and those that do work still receive much or most of their income from capital gains and dividends.

Many of these people don't have strong feelings one way or another about abortion, gay marriage or guns. They pay lip service to those issues only in order to gain the support of social conservatives who do care about those issues.

Rudy has promised these people that he will be their advocate as president. He has promised that he will make it his top priority to eliminate or reduce tax rates on capital gains and dividends. That is all these folks want to hear.

Who are these people? These are the Log Cabin Country Club for Growth poofs that I was talking about. They tolerate Rudy's "wide stance" on all of the social issues because, frankly, they don't care about any those issues. That wing of the party has always has always been the weak sister wing of the party. You won't find many military veterans among them. They aren't interested in any of the real conservative candidates because they have got it in their head that "Rudy's a winner" - hey, if his "wide stance" doesn't bother them, why should it bother anyone else?

If they succeed in nominating Rudy, they're going to destroy the Republican Party.

I have taken a lot of heat for defending Pat Robertson in the past. I am done defending him. -— He has sold his soul, and he wouldn’t even wait until the General Election to do it. There is no principle left in the man; he is corrupted, perhaps beyond repair.

Shame on you, Pat Roberston, shame on you!

I would like to take this post to apologize for any prior statements I have made in defense of Pat Robertson. I am sorry, I was wrong. He is not the man of principle I thought him to be, he is an opportunist who would sell out anything for Political Power. Like Esau trading his inheritance for one meal, Pat Roberston has traded everything for one election. May he henceforth be remembered in the same way Esau is. That is how I will remember him.

Pat Roberston, I have lost all respect for you. And that is coming from someone who once had a LOT of respect for you. May you lose your meal AND your inheritance.

I will come to Pat Robertson’s defense no more. I am ashamed to admit that I ever have.

Pat Robertson has been nothing but a globalist shill; a pied piper of tyranny. The Mammon Man.

... and with simple strokes of the keyboard, Ol’ Sparky becomes the arbiter of who and what is a RINO.

BTW, just to clarify the meaning: “Republican In Name Only” is an ostensible registered Republican who, when it comes down to it, refuses to vote for the REPUBLICAN nominee. Hence the qualifying term, “In Name Only”.

Rudy = Hillary.

He gave her the senate seat; if elected he’ll show us how conservative she is, but I’m sure that he’ll just pull a Bob Dole.

You have no clue. You're trying to say a RINO is anyone who isn't a sheep.

A “Republican In Name Only” is, quite obviously, someone who calls himself a Republican while espousing a wide array of positions in opposition to the Republican Party platform.

My carry permit in the state of New York was not affected in the least after 8 years of Giuliani as mayor.

Rudy's hands would be reasonably clean on the gun issue if he'd stuck to enforcing the city ordinances that were on the books long before he took office. However, his lawsuit against firearm manufacturers is what most pro-gun voters remember... the first evidence that his anti-gun ambitions stretched well beyond New York City.

Also, are you familiar with the agreement that Smith & Wesson signed with the government? The one that exposes any S&W retailer to increased federal meddling with regard to the types and/or other brands guns that said gun shops may offer for sale, and more... ever heard of that? It's currently dormant, unenforced because the Bush administration has chosen not to press the issue. A Giuliani administration would revive it in a heartbeat - it's right up Rudy's authoritarian alley.

No, RINO is a leftist that runs as a Republican, and when in office, acts like a liberal Dummacrap.

Example:
Rudy.

Pat Robertson - hypocrite and sellout.

Robertson and Guilliani and co. have accomplished nothing except revealing their total hypocrisy for all the world to see. What a complete and utter turn-off. I am truly disgusted.

"Rudy has executive experience and I think that Robertson is betting that once Rudy is in office, he's not going to pull any liberal pranks. But he could be wrong...but at least Hillary won't be in the Oval Office, and that's what Robertson is banking on with Rudy - most likely to beat Hillary."

I'm trying to tell you that Rudy is in the race to throw the presidency to Hillary. He already did this once in the Senate race and will do it again. Wouldn't it be just *terrible* if his cancer came back and he had to withdraw *again* (after winning the Republican nomination)?

This only works because you can fool some people *all* of the time. That Hillary is even a 'serious' candidate is proof of that.

Wake up boys! Don't be so freakin stupid!

Take a look at the Contract With America - the document widely credited with sweeping Republicans into power in 1994.

http://www.house.gov/house/Contract/CONTRACT.html

... there is not one mention of abortion in it.

So, I’m trying to understand your point in the context of this fact: that Americans are evenly divided over abortion, and that the contract with America gave Americans a rationale for voting for republicans. And it didn’t mention abortion or guns or gays.

"RINO" was adopted by California GOP grassroots in 1994 who wore RINO buttons to denounce Los Angeles Mayor Dick Riordan's leftist policies and his staff and commission appointments. It had nothing to do with support of other candidates.

Oh, have we moved on past your idiotic attempt to redefine "Republican in name only"??

So, I’m trying to understand your point in the context of this fact: that Americans are evenly divided over abortion

That has nothing to do with my post, although you do raise several more ignorant points. Apparently you are extra confused today.

“Giuliani very publicly, for maximum PR impact, ripped up a big Saudi check on behalf of 9/11 victims.....then very quietly, he turned around and accepted big Saudi checks when they were made out to Giuliani Partners.”

BACKGROUND The original Saudi check was made out to the "Twin Towers Fund" Rudy's special little "tax-exempt charity" to which he appointed to the Board of Directors Arnold Schwarzenegger and his then-mistress, Judith Nathan, Arnold used the tax-exempt funds to help him launch his profit-making movie, "Collateral Damage," with Rudy and his entourage joining in on the gala event.

Gosh, I just hope these revelations won't affect the voting blocs Rudy has worked so hard to win.

GIULIANI BANDWAGON BRANCHES OUT TO ISRAEL
By MAGGIE HABERMAN, NY Post, April 21, 2007

EXCERPT A group of Israelis has launched a grass-roots effort to get people living in the Jewish state who are eligible to vote in the United States to line up behind Rudy Giuliani, it was reported yesterday.

The group, Giuliani Supporters in Israel, was launched by Mordechai Twersky, a onetime candidate for state Assembly in The Bronx in the early 1990s, according the Jerusalem Post. Twersky has established a Web site, giulianisupportersinisrael.org, with background information including Giuliani's famed eviction of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat from a Lincoln Center concert in 1995. "I did this as a private personal initiative, as a proud American and Israeli citizen, and I am confident that it will catch on," Twersky told the paper.

He said the campaign hadn't set up his group, but that he's been in contact with Team Giuliani since he got started. Giuliani has historically been popular with Jewish voters, and took a hard pro-Israel line when he was in office. Giuliani's campaign didn't return The Post's calls for comment. In some past elections, planeloads of Israelis with American citizenship have flown to the United States to vote.

Others seem to have expanded the meaning to refer to anyone who isn’t in 100 percent agreement with them.
