So in essence , Weyrich is saying that the values voters will have to “come around” to Romney’s psuedo Conservatism ?

By that , he’s admitting that Romney has to be sold to values voters . Not good .

Thompson doesn’t need to be sold to Conservative voters , he has the Conservative track record already .

Weyrich is in the Paul/Kucinich on the War in Iraq. Why are we supposed to believe he's some kind of conservative touchstone?

He sounds more like nutters such as Pat Buchanan or Paul Craig Roberts.

Romney is running as the conservative in this race. Not Thompson.

Thompson does have a relatively conservative voting record with the exceptions of tort reform and our border. That much is indisputable.

But I don’t see Thompson as the agenda setter who is going to fight the Dims tooth and nail. He’s far more of a legislator than an executive.

If you read what Weyrich says, he thinks Thompson lacks the fire in the belly to stop Giuliani and that’s what is crucial. As long as the non-Julieannie vote is split between Huckabee, Thompson and Romney, Julieannie wins and that means we get Hillary as our next president because Giuliani cannot defeat her after alienating so much of his base.

Thompson had his chance and he blew it big time. People are backing Romney for tactical reasons—the longer the conservative vote is split among three good candidates, the worst candidate wins.

I vividly recall how thompson was rolled by Glenn and other 'rats during the 90's senate hearings. It was pathetic and a quality we do not need to stand up to the hildebeast and commie despots.

Add his refusal to endorse the marriage amendment and state he didn't think he could win, thompson is out.

Fred has no chance now. He really doesn’t want it and said as much.

why can’t Thompson support the right to life as a national law as the constitution guarantees? And it is part of the republican platform. I was going for him, but not after his dismal explaination of that issue.
