Interesting not least that this article was published in the Jerusalem Post. The (unfounded) fear of the demographic bomb, which would cause the Jews to become a minority not only west of the Jordan but also in Israel within the 1967 borders is the main reason driving the insane peace intiatives (from the Israeli side).

In reality the Muslim fertility is decreasing and the Jewish fertility rates is holding up or even increasing. Together with a maintained immigration the Jewish population will remain majority for the forseeable future.

it seems that arabs only have more children if they are paid for it while orthodox jews will try to have as many children as possible, no matter what, because of the mitzva.

IIRC most of the Arabs who helped the Jews settle in the region were Bedouin; their leaders saw them as bringing new life to the region.

Yes, but what the AIDRG group has shown is that the nativity among the Arabs in the West Bank is just following the pattern in surrounding countries. Actually the figures now are even lower than their lowest predictions - maybe due to the almost-civil-war in the PA areas.

(The PA is about to carry out a new census. Watch out for fake (but accurate /sarcasm) figures.

The highest rates are in haredi towns such as Modi'in Illit (Kiryat Sefer) and Betar Illit, with an average of eight children per woman...

I don't see how more of these haredi will aid the Jewish state. All they do is sit in the Yeshiva all day and "dicher." The really productive Israelis are leaving the mini state in droves.
