In what would normally be a very dull election day, observers are closely watching whether Republicans gain an edge in races where Gov. Spitzer's plan for licensing illegal aliens has become a major issue. "The Spitzer thing doesn't help anyone in a close race," declared veteran political consultant Joe Mercurio.

As for Hillary's licensing fumble at the debate----it will definitely be exploited by the GOP. A Republican strategist was jumping up and down with joy: "Licensing is an 80-20 issue for us and they're walking right into it." That would be "80-20" as in 80% of Americans oppose it.
Anti-illegal is a rare consensus issue in politics.
As the strategist said: "The vast majority of Americans are against this - especially among likely voters.
Amazingly----in Democratic strongholds such as New York and California------one pollster said voters oppose such plans by 75%. .
Hillary's 24/7 hyphenate pander is reaching back to bite her presidential ambitions.
Clinton voted 10 times so far this year in favor of any and all illegal immigration measures.
She's gonna rue the day she posed for that pic.
Keep in mind, the Clintons are adept at reinventing themselves--Hillary will probably renounce her American citizenship, move to Mexico, swim across the border, and apply for a US driver's license.
Request:
Could somebody photshop the picture above, replace the RW&B with the Mexican flag?
Thank you.
Using the Mexican flag is racist. You want to replace the red white and blue theme, then add the UN flag.
Hell, Mexicans probably do not represent the largest plurality of illegal aliens in New York State.
The Republicans must give tremendous amounts of lip service to this issue. Then once elections are Won, the Republicans would need to act and act decisively. This could be the deciding issue of this election, especially if National Security is coupled with the illegal issue, as actually is the case in the real world.
Hillary is clearly on record as supporting Spitzer now, even though she tried to obfuscate at the debate. Since Edwards and Obama are for it, she has to match them, but she will pay dearly in the general election for this. There are some issues you just can’t straddle the fence on.
Which nation’s illegals would represent the highest proportion of the total, in your judgement?
Since when is a being from a place, Mexico, racist? There are all races in Mexico. You might want to reconsider your last remark.
Mejas is refusing to take a stand because he no doubts supports it. A win for Belesi against the incumbent would be huge and might send a message to the lawbreaker pandering democrats that November 2008 will be here before you know it.
What makes you think these people care about the views of the public? There are latino votes at stake. They only care about holding on to their offices.
EXCERPT: Ever since Sept 11, lawmakers who back licenses for illegal aliens have suffered, such as ex-Cali Gray Davis who was recalled in part because he signed such a bill. Those who have called for crackdowns are reaping the political rewards.
I MIGHT ADD:
Eight of the hijackers were registered to vote in American elections. Under federal "motor voter" law, anyone receiving a driver's license automatically may register to vote. Nothing prevents illegal aliens from voting in American elections. Yet, Hillary Clinton thinks we should give driver's licenses to illegal aliens.
You mean after they gain control? Oh, wait. The pubs owned the house, senate and presidency before the last election. It's too late. They are going to lose the presidency in the next election. Bush is a moron. He's the intellectual equivalent of Lyndon Johnson. Lyndon, another great man who killed thousands of Americans. Through Republican incompetence we will now have to contend with Hillderbeast.
So far, at least Mitt and Fred have come out with some pretty strong anti-illegal positions and proposals.
I agree...this could be rocket fuel for the GOP if they time it right and come down on the correct side of history; hopefully without blowing off both feet in the process.
And photoshop "Leadership for Mexico"
Good one!
Weren't you one of the people in 2004 who had Howard Dean in the Oval Office about this close to the primary voting back then?
It would be difficult for the Amnesty loving Giuliani, McCain and Huckabee to exploit the issue.
