Um, maybe I’m out of line here, but isn’t there a Republican sitting in the president’s chair... And yet, he is leaving the borders wide open.

True enough. But the election will (probably) be between Sen. Clinton and the Republican nominee, not GWB: what this does is make it more likely that the 'pubby won't follow in Bush's footsteps on the matter.

Would anyone that is seriously considering the seat of POTUS want to go in front of a microphone and say they plan on continuing the job this president started? Have we heard anyone even insinuate they want to follow in his footsteps?
