Strike Strikes 24
by Joal Ryan
Wed, 7 Nov 2007 05:48:35 PM PST
Jack Bauer has met his match: Striking writers.
The seventh-season launch of 24, scheduled for January, has been postponed due to the ongoing union writers’ strike, Fox said Wednesday.
24 is the latest casualty of the walkout that began Monday. Several shows, including NBC’s The Office, have shut down production. ABC’s Desperate Housewives was to follow suit on Thursday.
A Fox spokesman said he didn’t know if 24 had stopped shooting. The network said it was holding off on the premiere “to ensure that ‘Day 7’ can air uninterrupted, in its entirety.”
The new Terminator-spawned series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, has been slated to air in 24’s usual 9 p

Cow falls 200 feet onto van; Michigan couple escape injury
By Jaime Adame
World staff writer
MANSON A cow fell about 200 feet off a cliff Sunday and landed on the hood of a minivan passing by Rocky Point about one mile east of Manson, officials said.
Charles Everson, Jr. and his wife Linda escaped injury.
"It was just 'bam' you just saw something come down and hit the hood," Charles Everson said this morning from his hotel room in Manson.
He and his wife are in the area from Westland, Mich., near Detroit, to celebrate their one-year anniversary, he said. They were on Highway 150 headed back to their hotel after attending a church service.
Everson, 49, said he didn't actually see the animal until it hit and didn't realize what had happened until after the impact.
"I'm like, 'I don't believe this. I don't believe this. I don't believe this,' " Everson said, adding he repeated the phrase "about 20 times."
The incident happened about 12:20 p.m.
Arnold Baker, Chelan County Fire District 5 chief, said the cow was a heifer he estimated to weigh about 600 pounds.
"It's funny because it was such a close call," Baker said. "Inches different and the couple in this car would have been killed."
The cow, about year old, belonged to a breeder in the area who had earlier reported the animal missing, Baker said. The animal was euthanized at the scene.
The Eversons continued on about a mile after the collision before pulling over, and were taken to Lake Chelan Community Hospital as a precaution. The van suffered heavy damage, including a broken windshield from the force of the animal hitting the hood, Baker said.

Two Busch Series crew chiefs fined
By DAVID POOLE - The Charlotte Observer
Tony Eury Sr., crew chief for Brad Keselowski on the No. 88 Busch Series Chevrolets owned by JR Motorsports, and Chad Walter, crew chief for the No. 24 Chevrolets at Hendrick Motorsports, were each fined $10,000 by NASCAR on Wednesday.
Eury and Walter were also placed on probation until Dec. 31.
Threads on the lug nuts on both of those cars had been removed in such a way that the lug nuts did not conform to the NASCAR rule book. The violations were found in inspections before Saturday’s race at Texas.

Thanks. Seems far too many forget the sacrifices the old timers of the sport endured to bring us what we have today.
Fast forward: Before the race at TMS, JJ gave his Atlanta winnings, matched by Rick Hendricks and Bruton Smith, to the Red Cross, a million plus.

Makes you wonder about Jr’s wheel last week huh?

We are going to be there!
After getting bit by the Nascar bug last year my wife and I decided to fly from Bend, Oregon to see this years race. Snow is supposed to be flying here in Bend so a few days in the sunshine plus the Sunday race has us packed and ready to go.
We will wave; that’ll be us up high just past the start/finish line!!
