Bull. Modern Linux distros plus OpenOffice (particulary Ubuntu) are amazingly slick — everything works and they install faster than Microfraud Vista, XP, etc.
I know. I have a kickin’ desktop with Ubuntu 7.04 and a Canon MP160 printer/scanner/copier. I run dual-boot because I can never get the scanner properly set up in Ubuntu, but the printer works wonderfully in Ubuntu, especially with GIMP and OpenOffice. I’ve been printing a bunch of replacement DVD covers over the past few days here on Ubuntu with GIMP. I just resize the covers to 270 mm long x 183 mm wide and then print them out.
