...a first-degree hate crime...

What are the different degrees of hate crimes? Anyone?

...the state that doesn't hate...

That has ZERO truth to it.

I’ve read that the Romans used hate crimes to persecute Christians. Sorry no source.

Simple fact...you don't assault an individual regardless of his/her gender, race, creed,"sexual orientation",etc.Yes,charge those responsible for the assault with whatever degree of assault (depending, largely,on the extent of the injuries suffered).

But "hate crime"? Barbra Streisand!!!!

All beatings should be treated equally. What the heck difference does it make if they are gay or straight?

Throw them in jail for life. I don’t care if it’s a hate crime they are charged with or simple A&B. Put them in jail, and throw away the key.

Hate crimes come in degree’s?

Interesting to see that a “first degree hate crime” carries with it a stiffer penalty than fag crimes such as abduction of male children, buggery of male children, prostitution of malechildren.
note that these are fag crimes. “Straight” Pedophiles exploit female children.

When a society accepts abnormal, deviant sexual behavior as “normal”, and those that speak out against such sick, perverted, disgusting behavior of those who belong to groups such as the man boy love association are charged with “hate crimes”, when people pleading for moral decency are labeled as “haters”, you know this society has decayed to the point of no return

First, prove they were happy, then, argue it was an anti-gay crime.

There is more to this story than is published here.

I’ve seen surly fast food employees, but I’ve never heard of them leaving their posts just to beat the crap out of a customer.

I can’t say what it is, but this is not the complete story.

If the perps would have been black or gay, the MSM would be silent....very little coming from the MSM about the race killings in Wichita and Knoxville.

Has there ever been a Supreme Court test of “hate crime?”

I honestly just cannot see how it can hold together.

Crime should be punished in terms of the damage it causes. That much is understandable to anyone. In that context the brutal sadistic beating of a homosexual that results in death might warrant a more severe punishment than a lover’s quarrel where a jilted spouse spouse pulls out a pistol and consigns her wandering hubby to room temperature.

However, in both cases, what is being punished is the ACT. The reason, the motivation, the mindset of the perpetrator can and should be considered within the context of the crime, but are not — can’t be — criminal acts in themselves.

This is scary. Hate-crime is just a hop, skip and a jump away from thought-crime. And when they get around to examining what you read, watch on TV, access via the Internet for evidence of criminal thought, we are all in definite trouble.

How can it be a hate crime? The perps are ‘latinos’????

Anybody know if the two perps are even legal?
