“Quite interesting that Thompson has come out against the Pro-Life plank in the Republican platform...I wonder how the evangelicals will react in the South?”
How many pregnant teens and unwed mothers homes do you see there like it was 30, 40 years ago?
They’ll vote for him in the box.
Anyway, the Federal Amendment issue is just a ruse by the Republican establishment to keep fantasy support from anti-abortion people.
You must be kidding. Your candidate, Mitt Romney, ruled against his own Public Health Dept. to force Catholic Hospitals to dispense the morning-after pill across Massachusetts. Thompson, on the other hand, voted with Jesse Helms on every single abortion vote that came up while he was in the Senate:

I already answered the question, but I’ll do it again for you. I want to see any participant in any murder treated the same under the law. I want equal protection for all people, whether they have been born or not. Good enough?
And the woman is at least an accessory. So is anyone else involved anywhere in the situation.
Rudy is Pro-Abortion, would pay for the murder of his own grand child and wants you and me to pay for the murder of poor children.
Fred doesn’t. Is that easy enough or do I need to break it down further?
It means that he was quoting the Constitution. You took that ball and ran with it.
Enough.
Very nicely worded Firebrand.
Bump
After 35 years of fighting for the pro-life agenda, making abortion a crime isn’t gonna happen. Instead of in your face advertising campaigns that call people baby killers and murderers. I think electing greater numbers of conservatives to office will get the job done with more substantial long term results.
First objective should be to overturn Roe v Wade and end abortion on demand as the national policy of the US government. There is nothing in the Constitution that says women have a right to an abortion. That means pro-lifers have to work at better educating the people on just what is happening in our society today. And that means battling liberals in the arena of ideas.
So, apparently, states could, if they so choose, legalize murder?
An odd “states rights” position to take.
phrogphlyer,If we are talking illegal abortions I still say it is the Doctor. To be a purest in your sense would mean even in thought.I think that is what you are saying.Thought-word-deed.The one that does the deed.
They will suck their brains out and tear every limb from their body and throw them in a dumpster. Any talk of a law to prevent or reverse that is artfully dodged.
Was banning slavery an infringement on states rights?
Not good for any viable POTUS candidate. None would touch this with a 10-foot pole. That's why abolishing abortion is not a viable political position for a candidate.
You lost me with the thought comment. We don’t punish thought, only actions. However, the abortionist could never perform an abortion without the consent of the woman. How many involuntary abortions have you heard of? The woman is as guilty as the “doctor,” and so is anybody who knowingly transports her to the clinic, or pays the “doctor” for the “service.”
I never said it was viable, I said it was my opinion. And I’m not running for POTUS.
How does Fred propose to stop it? He doesn't. His solution to stick his fingers in his ears and scream "federalism" so loud so he can't hear the ghastly sounds of death bleeding from the abortion mills.
Last I checked, it isn't. However Fred has said that abortionists would be breaking the law should a state legislate against abortion. He's refused to say that women should be locked up for seeking one or receiving one.
An overly federalistic approach is a Pontius Pilate approach - washing your hands of responsibility while allowing evil to spread unchecked.
Whatever happened to states rights or governance OF the people BY the people? Fred's position is constitutionally based. But you already know that...
Don’t be so touchy. I wasn’t commenting on what you posted.
I was posting my opinion.
