And what's he got to show for it? He's not known to be a leader. No one knows who he is outside of California mostly. If wanted to run for POTUS, he should have done the necessaries beginning several years back.

BTW, your mathematics is misleading. Thompson has more than "8 years" of political experience.

The records of Fred and Mr. Hunter are ones where one realizes the truth, if one wants the truth and change. Mr. Hunter will bring Integrity and Honor into the office of the President of the United States as President Ronald Reagan once did. I truly believe in my heart that were President Ronald Reagan alive today, he too would be supporting Mr. Duncan Lee Hunter. America has to make a decision. Does America continue to travel the road America is on.....or does America take the fork for change.....I and my house will take the fork for change....your house must do as it will.....but a change is all that is left if one truly desires something other than what America is experiencing now......

I see what you're saying, but few folks hold 13 or so terms in Congress in high esteem. The term "career politician" comes to mind. It's best to sift what he's done in his time there.
