Coed locker room plan sparks surge of outrage

A surge of outrage is developing in Maryland, where the governing council in Montgomery County is planning to vote on a plan to open the doors of its public restrooms, locker rooms and other facilities to those who "perceive" they are that gender.

"From what I'm reading, the person with the gender identify confusion is being protected by what she or he FEELS he or she is. Thus, we'd have to protect this person's gender based upon what is in his or her MIND. So, if I'm in a bathroom all by myself late at night, and a man walks in, I am supposed to be okay with this? If I'm at a pool, in a women's locker room, and a man walks in – I'm supposed to be okay with this? This is truly unbelievable, and I'm embarrassed that Montgomery County is even spending its time on this piece of nonsense," a resident, identified as "Lisa," wrote to her elected representative on the board.

WND reported on the pending proposal, facing a vote by county officials in a little more than a week, after Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays raised some concerns.

The report caught the attention of a Canadian WND reader, who notified his friends, who live in Maryland.

Lisa told WND she first called her county offices and asked them about the proposal, and was told that such "open doors" for those who perceive themselves of a gender other than their physical characteristics wasn't possible.

"I heard about Bill 23-07, and, frankly, was shocked. I went to your website and pulled up the bill and read it," Lisa said in her letter to county officials.

Let me get this straight.

I already feel uncomfortable at times with the “women” in the locker room at LA Fitness (you know, the ones who peek way too much and too long.)

It should be painfully obvious, folks, why the American Bar Association and lawyers in general support liberal Democratic candidates. Stupid and potentially litigious laws such as this GUARANTEES they'll have more work than they can handle.

This is planned chaos, socially destructive, and insurance for future lawsuits.

This whole situation goes beyond parody. How can you reason with people who think it’s a noble cause to enable men to use the lady’s room? You need something other than reason to defeat these people (lawsuits, removing them from power, something to force change). Rational debate is useless.

I believe this is the same county that banned Santa Claus from a Christmas parade a few years ago, because non-Christians might feel left out of the fun.

I haven't heard about such, but I do remember back in 2001, when the town of Kensington (which is in Montgomery County) banned Santa Claus due to similar concerns. If I remember correctly, the people complaining would have actually been fine with Santa if a menorah or some such were included in the display, which used Santa and a Christmas tree.

It's not the restrooms that are the problem — it's the locker rooms and shower rooms at pools and gyms. I am already grossed out by the exhibitionists of my own sex in my gym. I would hate to think of a little girl being used as an unwilling witness by a male so-called "gender dysphoric" who is in the women's locker room testing the limits, should this insane law be passed.
