Freedom of speech does not mean that you are free from private reaction from that speech, including being fired.

Would you like to be fired for a non-PC statement you made off the clock in a phone conversation with a family member? That's a little more "apples-to-apples" than your over-bland description.

Would I like it? Of course not. Dog has every right not to have anything to do with his son again for selling him out. But that doesn't mean the employer does not have the right to fire me for whatever reason. I don't have a right to a particular job and neither does Dog.
