HUNTER: Glenn, Ive got a bill Im introducing today which says no other law with standing, and that includes the Endangered Species Act which stops you from brushing your own property, any private person may brush back their property as far as they want for purposes of fire protection. ...... heres what some communities and some states want to give you. They want to give you the right to pay taxes and nothing else and so youve got places in California now where you cant clear your land, you cant cut down a tree, you cant go anywhere near a stream bed and you end up with a government agency. ...
... But that shows you the mindset of this bureaucracy that weve put in charge of basically taking property rights away from real people.
History Channel & Food Channel and a few others.
I was thinking in terms of news.
I haven’t watched prime time alphabet TeeVee in years!
FINALLY! Now this is some good news for the country.I am especially glad to hear that GB is on board the Hunter express. We all need to contact more of these people to get Hunter on the air.
I wonder if Ron Paul will vote against this one, like he did the last brush thinning bill.
I’ve never looked at Paul’s voting record.
I would have thought he would be supportive of private property rights. No?
>Peaople see him and like him.<
Great thread. Thanks dit_xi!
Yup! My ornery, skeptical son in law watched the last Republican debate, actually saw Hunter in action for the first time (though he was given scant time!) and announced to me that Duncan Hunter definitely won that debate! He was very impressed with what he heard from Hunter, and he liked his delivery.
And some people say the guy needs charisma? Give me a break! He’s got it all, credentials plus enormous heart to fight for what is right for America!
GO DUNCAN HUNTER! :)
One would think that, but he occasionally goes off the deep end.
RON PAUL - Voted NO on speeding up approval of forest thinning projects. Vote to adopt the conference report on the bill that would reduce and expedite (speed up) environmental and judicial reviews of forest thinning projects. The Bureau of Land Management and the US Forest Service would have the authorization to remove vegetation that could cause or assist the spread of wildfires, disease or insect infestation. All forest thinning project would come after public meetings had been held. Forest thinning would be restricted to land that is within a 1.5 miles of at-risk communities , high-risk land that serves as a home for threatened and endangered species, high-risk land in the area of municipal water sources and and high-risk land that is specifically susceptible to disease or insect infestation.

It was pure joy watching Hunter in committee meetings etc.. He can get at the bottom of things for sure!
>And some people say the guy needs charisma?<
That man has charisma locked up as far as I’m concerned.
Mega dittos... er... DAMN RIGHT! Hunter has been my choice for at least the last two months.
Thanks! He probably thinks BLM and the USFS shouldn’t be in control of the land at all (which I agree with, but which will probably never happen). I haven’t looked at the details of Hunter’s bill, but I sure do love it when any of the candidates start talkin’ about sovereignty, property rights, and dissing the kangaroo rat, LOL.
Overall, it was an inspiring interview. (Waspman—read the transcript, you’ll like it!)
You may have seen this one about Hunter and property rights.

DUNCAN HUNTER Champion of Property Rights and Real Free Trade!
“HUNTER: Glenn, Ive got a bill Im introducing today which says no other law with standing, and that includes the Endangered Species Act which stops you from brushing your own property, any private person may brush back their property as far as they want for purposes of fire protection. ... “
Which reminds me, the Endangered Species Act was passed in 1973, the same year as Roe.
The leftists are totally insane.
That was no coincidence. A few months ago, I read about the record of SCOTUS Harry A. Blackmun, the author of Roe v. Wade. He was also the one advancing wacko-environmentalism through his liberal interpretations. My own summary from reading various sources is below. One wonders how he would feel about the "incursion" if looking back, today.
On environmental issues he called for an "imaginative expansion" of traditional standing concepts that would allow public interest groups to enter environmental cases. When the Sierra Club was found to lack standing as "a representative of the public" in a case challenging the development of a ski resort in the Sequoia National Forest (Sierra Club v. Morton, 1972), Blackmun lamented "The case poses ... a wide, growing, and disturbing problem, that is, the Nation's and the world's deteriorating environment with its resulting ecological disturbances. Must our law be so rigid and our procedural concepts so inflexible that we render ourselves helpless when the existing methods and the traditional concepts do not quite fit and do not prove to be entirely adequate for new issues?"BTW, Blackmun was appointed by Richard Nixon and incessantly described as "a strict constructionist."As one of two alternatives, he wrote in his dissent "I would permit an imaginative expansion of our traditional concepts of standing in order to enable an organization such as the Sierra Club... to litigate environmental issues. This incursion upon tradition need not be very extensive. Certainly, it should be no cause for alarm. ...We need not fear that Pandora's box will be opened or that there will be no limit to the number of those who desire to participate in environmental litigation. The courts will exercise appropriate restraints just as they have exercised them in the past." The case, and others expanding upon it, opened federal courts up to a wealth of litigation.
Duncan could/should be the man.
This was a wonderful idea...”Ive sent a copy to you saying this, and I talked to the President about 30 minutes ago. I said, lets go over to Bethesda and Walter Reed and as we get these new these soldiers and Marines who are embarking on new careers, lets recruit them for the State Department and lets fire these guys that refuse to go and well give the State Department careers to these military guys.”
If the President doesn’t do it, I’ll be upset. It just makes so much sense to do this.
Thanks for posting. Thanks Glenn Beck! Hooray Duncan Hunter! BUMP-TO-THE-TOP!
“(Notice how Beck goes right to the heart of the matter for conservatives, to wit asking Hunter twice why his accomplishments dont translate into better name recognition.... which is exactly what Ive been wondering about Hunter for months now).”
Fox news could help him along, but they seem to be all for Rudy. Ann Coulter brought that up to Sean when he asked her who her favorite candidate was. She said “well, I like Duncan Hunter but you don’t seem to want to talk about him”. Sean shut right up and changed the subject.
Post 34 informative post.
“Blackmun was appointed by Richard Nixon and incessantly described as “a strict constructionist.”’
And we shouldn’t expect Giuliani to pick constructionalist judges, either.
