The Palo Verde Nuclear Power Station has been locked down for investigation, however officials say theres no immediate threat to public safety. The incident this morning is being described as an unusual event, which is the lowest of four emergency categories the plant can declare.
A contract worker with the Nuclear Generating Station triggered the lockdown when he showed up with a suspicious package inside his vehicle, authorities said.
The incident reportedly involves a suspicious-looking pipe inside the workers truck.
This is not a threat to the public, said Jim McDonald, a spokesman for plant operator Arizona Public Service Co. If it had the potential to be, the security guards stopped it.
Security guards working for the utility armed with automatic weapons check identification and search under the hood of vehicles entering the plant.
I dont know what they saw or why they were uncomfortable with it, McDonald said.
Maricopa County Sheriffs Office spokesman Doug Matteson said the worker was stopped because of a suspicious package in the vehicle.
I am glad it finally got into the BN section.
Heck, that description could fit a crack pipe.
Anyone know how far a how quick nuclear radiation travels? I live 6 miles or so north of Tucson...which is about 150 miles or so from this plant.
Those look similar to the Iranian ones they just “discovered” in Iraq.
The radiation would travel at the speed of light, the fallout if the core exploded (chernobyl) would probably travel at the speed of the air currents.
The suspicious explosive device turned out to be Rosie's ass. She was hitchhiking and fell asleep on her stomach.

Suspicious or not!
She looks like radioactive lesbee.
Fox news said this is NOT terrorist. It WAS someone with a bomb but that they were American. So FOX said it wasn’t a terrorist.
OMG ROFL! We live in a weird weird weird world.
“It WAS someone with a bomb but that they were American.”
Possible American suicide bomber going “toast-al”.

A nuclear power plant in Arizona was locked down Friday morning after security guards discovered a pipe bomb in a contract worker’s truck, authorities said.
Plant operator Arizona Public Service called the discovery an “unusual event” and sealed off the site, with no traffic entering or leaving the grounds.
A bomb squad from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department declared the pipe bomb a “credible explosive device.”
