Actually I am fortunate. Most of my workday is spent alone, but linked to others on location by phone and data feeds.
There is plenty to do, jobs are clearly delineated, and there is no opportunity to slough your duties on someone else without everyone knowing about it.
It is a demanding mission-oriented work environment, and those who do not perform don't last long.
Most of us are away from home for the duration (until we finish the well), so 'watching the clock' is a waste of time.
Besides, we're mostly all conservatives here in the oil patch, and that eliminates an amazing amount of BS.
