Hating Rudy
The American Spectator ^ | November 2, 2007 | Philip Klein

Posted on 11/02/2007 6:01:03 AM PDT by libstripper

"Rudy Giuliani [is] probably the most under-qualified man since George Bush to seek the presidency," Sen. Joe Biden declared during Tuesday's Democratic debate in Philadelphia. "There's only three things he mentions in a sentence: a noun and a verb and 9/11."

The crowd roared with laughter, and liberal blogger Josh Marshall wrote, "Okay, I may have to endorse Biden after this tear against Rudy."

With the end of the dreaded Bush era approaching, Rudy Giuliani has slowly begun to supplant the President as the leading hate figure among liberals, a reality that will only help Giuliani in his efforts to overcome his differences with conservatives and win the Republican nomination.

Within the past month, the New Republic, the Nation, and the Washington Monthly have all run anti-Giuliani cover stories, with the latter one declaring that, "as president, Giuliani would grab even more executive power than Bush and Cheney."

In the Boston Globe, James Carroll wrote of Giuliani, "He's like a gang leader now, roving the streets, looking for some punk to bash. Iran will do."

This sentiment has dominated liberal blogs, where a general consensus has formed that Giuliani would be the worst president imaginable. Giuliani's decision to include neoconservative icon Norman Podhoretz on his foreign policy advisory team has also triggered liberal paranoia about his determination to attack Iran. Lost in all the fuss is the fact that Charles Hill, a Yale professor, is actually Giuliani's top adviser. What Giuliani and Hill have both emphasized is that if America makes it clear that it will not hesitate to use military force, diplomacy has a much more realistic chance of succeeding. Not that this line of reasoning would win over any of his critics on the left.

If he's so bad, why do our enemies hate him so much?

I would propose that the libs are putting Rudy up there as their most feared candidate so that we will think he is the best candidate and nominate him. It’s reverse psychology - they know he will lose.

Another quote from the article....

"It's totally unbelievable," Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY), lamented in the New York Observer of Giuliani's resilience in the presidential race. "I refuse to believe that this could possibly happen to our country. I have too much confidence in our country to believe that this could really happen."

If Charlie Rangel is afraid of him, he has a chance to be one of the top Presidents ever!!!!

I absolutely refuse to do anything that will put Hillary, or any of the dem appeasers in the White House. Our Countrys future is at stake. We need the toughness of a real leader, not someone who invites President Assad (Obama) to the White House, or thinks we can "negotiate" peace with those who want to kill us (all of the dems).

I don’t hate him. I just don’t want a lberal, authoritarian
RINO as a candidate.

I hate the fact he is being pushed at us.

The left probably only hates him because he should be a Democrat.

Your problem is they’ve been hating him that way ever since he was mayor of NYC. Face it, their hatred for him is genuine.

BINGO! And truth be told, there are a few other well known RINOs they hate for the same reason.

Let’s face it, the left hates all of our candidates, with the exception of Ron Paul. You’re right, Rudy is being pushed on us. They hate Bush too & he’s not much of a conservative. Just because they hate him, doesn’t make him our best choice.

I don’t like Rudy, but he’s more qualified than any other Democrat running for the office of President.

They hate him because he was more liberal than Dinkins and it cost them the election.

I disagree. For months we have been hearing that it is Fred that the MSM fear (at least on this forum), yet if you read any of the lib message boards (DU, or KOS, etc.) it really is Rudy they fear because they know that many of the "on the fence" voters will find him more appealing than Hillary.

I do not disagree with the fact that we may lose a chunk of our far right voters if he is the nominee, and that is a huge risk, but I also think that when push comes to shove, the thought of another 8 years of a Clinton White House, and the SCOTUS she would appoint will influence a lot of those that are today saying they would never, ever vote for Rudy.

Regardless of who our party eventually nominates, I vow to support them with my time, money, and my vote. I will not be part of a Clinton victory, because any of our guys will keep our Country safer than she would.

I really could care less what libs think

Rudy is a liberal....the libs do not like a GOP co-opting their agenda.

It would be a waste of my conservative vote to vote for Rudy. The GOP needs a better candidate....not another liberal globalist

"Rudy Giuliani [is] probably the most under-qualified man since George Bush to seek the presidency," Sen. Joe Biden declared during Tuesday's Democratic debate in Philadelphia.

And Mr. Biden, what exactly qualifies you for the presidency given the fact that you are a career politician, with a history of plagiarism, whose only executive experience is overseeing a couple of dozen staffers in the second smallest state in the Union?

So, we should vote in our Republican primary solely based upon who a bunch of pervert liberals in New York say they hate?

My Constitutional RIGHTS do not end at the New York city limits!

Rudy is a nowhere man.

Not a conservative and the left hates him because he has co-opted their causes as a so called republican.

Rudy is ‘Lose, Lose’ for everyone.

By all the whispered accounts I've heard, Rudy and Mike are avid "hets". Their embrace of various gay mantras is a local political necessity, albeit one that understandably rankles the national conservative base.

Her, OTOH....

Everyone is missing the point of the Biden statement. They (dims) are now using 9/11 as a punchline to their jokes. This will come back to haunt them.

It’s going to be very difficult for a lot of Rudy haters to climb down from the positions they’ve taken in the last few months.
