NEW YORK - It was like a classic episode of "Perry Mason," with an FBI agent charged with murder, a mouthy mob moll and a twist at the end: The FBI guy walked after a reporter with a secret tape exposed the gangster's girlfriend as a liar who couldn't keep her story straight.
In a stunning finish to one of the worst law enforcement corruption cases in U.S. history, former FBI agent Lindley DeVecchio was cleared Thursday of giving up confidential information that a Colombo family hit man used to kill four fellow mobsters either rivals or potential rats.
DeVecchio was cheered by his ex-colleagues before triumphantly leaving a Brooklyn courtroom, finally cleared after spending 13 years under suspicion for his long and bizarre relationship with mob killer/mob informer Gregory Scarpa Sr.
"After almost two years, this nightmare is over," said DeVecchio, referring to the time since his indictment. "I'll never forgive the Brooklyn DA's office for irresponsibly pursuing this case. My question is: `Where do I go to get back my reputation?'"

“My question is: `Where do I go to get back my reputation?’”
Living well is the best revenge. This guy’s life story should be worth millions in book and movie deals.
Mr Robbins mostly remembers Ms Schiro ten years ago insisting that DeVecchio had nothing to do with anything back then.
Except for one murder where her comments back then matched her comments today. To wit, there was one murder that Mr. DeVecchio was likely complicit by telling the senior Scarpa about someone about to talk to the police. That person was murdered.
Find it hard to believe the FBI guy wasn’t dirty. Remember Whitey Bulger? Remember the FBI guy that admitted he killed a bunch of people during Congressional testimony, then sneered at the congressman questioning him?
Framed?
The guy probably walked because he had so much s$!t on other agents and prosecutors, which he would have exposed if they prosecuted him.
There are connections of this case to the failures to deal with radical Islam's war against us. Could 9/11 have been prevented?
Yes, it's a Huff'n Puff Post but.. like I said, Mr. Peter Lance (veteran journalist and author) seems to know what he's talking about. See link. He's written several books on all the stuff surrounding this and radical Islam's jihad against us.
I would never click on a Huff Compost link, but is there another one that has Lance’s sentiments?
Yes, try his web site there are lots of links and writings, peterlance.com
Though my version of firefox does not handle it very well, I have to use IE that came with XP.
He does appear to do mostly lefty Internet -- I have yet to figure out why, despite that, the conservatives don't pick up on him because of his book, Triple Cross: How bin Laden's Master Spy Penetrated the CIA, the Green Berets, and the FBI--and Why Patrick Fitzgerald Failed to Stop Him
Mr. Lance is no fan of "Bush 1" and "Bush 2" and in the interviews I've heard will acknowledge, when asked, that "President Clinton" could have done better.
