There once was a Black History Month luncheon who's menu included a lot of items that you could describe as soul food, or you could include them in a stereotype. Missing was fried chicken and I always wondered if that was the result of Political Correctness or just they decided to limit the choices for other reasons.

If it was PC, I hate to tell them but that was necessary...and silly to stop at that point.

I once made a list of things Mom used to feed or threaten to feed us kids, things that were from the Old Country that Grandmom routinely served her, that are commonly considered "soul food".

I hate the legal bastards who threaten organizations with predictions of dire consequences shold they ever get sued for race discrimination and they haven't bought thier "sensitivity training".

I've stated it many times that the money spent on those jerks should go to a different ethnic/cultural/whatever group every month, to be spent on food and just food for a group lunch.

My rationale is this, everybody but the English have something good in their cusine. That's a positive experience with a different culture. It breaksdown a barrier and encourages further interaction and tolerance. And it's really hard to hate someone who feeds you.

Funny you say that bit. I was on a food board the other day and they were bemoaning the lack of black chefs on a particular channel. And the lack of “afican-american” cuisine. But, if you mention fried chicken, catfish, collards, hoe cakes etc and are white.....dude you best be white trash on the end of the dirt road past the trailers, cuz otherwise you are a racist. And even if you are from that road...you’re a cracker and a racist.

Feh, a pox on their houses.
