The State Department won't hire
foreign service people who are not careerist pinkos except on a very limited token basis. Since career pinkos do the screening, they tend to weed out any applicants (regardless of their test scores) with dissimilar backgrounds and worldviews.

THAT is the ONLY problem I see with this idea. These wounded war heroes accepting the job as Diplomats would be under the control of the State Dept. “Pinkoes”.
