The entire premise of the article is this:

From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks.

Are you saying that is in error?

That's not the premise of the article, nor the title. What you cited about the GOP IS correct, but this is not: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican." The headline's glaring error and the points about him served to invalidate the entire piece, even with the correct points elsewhere. It's shocking that this author would not KNOW this. She is a fairly prominent Black Republican.
