I don’t see where it changes the meaning.

America is thinking about electing Obama, a Moslem or Mitt, a Mormon. America is a reflection of the people they elect.

After all, America has elected Carter, Bush, Clinton, Bush and maybe Clinton, all of whom claim to be Christian - how can you complain about the quote?

The quote is actually comforting in a way. At least it acknowledges the problem.

“SHOW me how someone from the Mormon faith might adopt a policy decision different from an evangelical position.”

Okay, since he believes he is on a path to becoming a God (and many of his followers think him perfect) he might well lack the humility to make decisions on both war and peace with a proper discernment for his failings.

Oh wait, that would be the case with his Massachusetts “RINO -Lite” Healthcare plan, which is already doomed to overruns. But because Mitt can do no wrong, and he engineered it “perfectly” he can’t be told differently.

But of course, if you want the same condescending attitude as Harry Reid, but from the RINO side, feel free. George Bush tricked us once, Romney ought to be even better.

And of course, Mormon nepotism will be a factor. If you don’t think so, just ask yourself “could a non-Mormon have been given the Utah Olympics job in a BILLION years?”

And then of course, people didn’t think Nancy Reagan should be consulting astrologers. But Mormons believe in ongoing revelation, and in revelation through peep stones while looking into your hat. But I guess that sounds sane to me, I mean, I certainly want my president to be wearing magic garmies while he has his finger on the nuclear button (or is getting ready to launch an attack on Iran).

But who am I to bring up the White Horse Prophecy, when we are talking about a perfect chosen God?

“Romney is liberal and that should be the focus.”

How can a liberal be conservative on all the issues?

Romney is obviously no liberal.

Most Christian denominations assert they are the "true" faith, else why have a different denomination?

Remember this story:
Protestants aren't proper Christians, says Pope

Of course, one can simply refer to this article itself for an example. :-)

Cizik also believes, like Keller and many other Christian leaders, that Mormons are not Christians.

He is the only begotten in the flesh as described in the scriptures. If you refer to my previous posts & their links you’ll see where we are all God’s children. It’s a very thorough read & will help you gain a better perspective of our beliefs rather than the garbage you’ll find on the anti sites.

If you read the links I provided, it will show you where to find it in YOUR bible, presuming it’s the KJV of course.

Assuming the Gospel was truth in the 1st century, it is the truth in the 21st century.

If you want to get into silly arguments about which sect of Christianity is going straight to hell, have fun. Most people have better things to do, and elections to win.

“Keller said he was concerned that having someone like Romney in the “highest visibility, highest power” position in the country would cause non-Christians and unchurched people to search out the Mormon religion.”

In other words, he wants to prevent people from finding out about Mormons and their faith. He wants people to be ignorant of Mormons. Seems to me that this would indicate that he doesn’t really have the confidence that his faith can stand up to such ‘competition’. It’s no different than the MSM marginalizing and silencing conservative voices.

““In doing so it is going to lead people into these false beliefs and ultimately die in their sins,” Keller warned.”

Doesn’t Keller think he and his fellow travelers will be able to make their case? And really, joining us takes some serious commitment, no coffee, no tea, no smoking, no alcohol, no sex outside of marriage, tithing, serving in the church, then you get family, friends and others getting on your case trying to talk you out of it, this isn’t a church anyone joins lightly.

Also, how many people became Catholic because of JFK? How many became evangelicals because of Carter? Without realizing it, Keller portrays Americans as bunch of easily mislead idiots and Mormonism as an attractive and easy to convert to religion.

“He pointed out that a lawmaker’s Mormon faith might cause his policy decision to be different than that of an evangelical in the same position.”

Yet nobody is ever able to give any example of how this could be so.

The standard that evangelicals want to use to exclude Mormons from Christendom would also exclude Jefferson, and ironicly, it is the same standard that Catholics used to brand protestants as heretics, non-Christians, a cult and so on 400 years ago.

Mitt’s values, experience, record, and platform are all valid things to examine in making a decision for or against him. His religion is not, and all Keller is trying to do is put an acceptable spin on religious bigotry.

This is no chapter & verse that specifically states Jesus & Satan were brothers. Do there scriptures taken as a whole describe that very thing? Yes! Sheesh, it’s like pulling teeth from you people to look at the whole picture! (Just yanking your chain man)

Do you really feel every detail about the universe is contained in the Bible? Do we know that the Lord is the Son of God? Of course. Are we sons of God? Of course. Is Lucifer called the son of the morning?(Isaiah 14:12) What does that mean? Cite me chapter & verse what son of the morning means. Specifically.

If you read the links, it answers your question pretty well, if answers are what you’re really after. There are a lot of things that aren’t specifically delineated in the Bible that are true none the less. Especially if you read the entire text rather than looking for a specific verse. I mean, isn’t that what a study of the Bible is all about? Are you really looking for answers, or just a beef?

“The fact that Mitt is trying to slip his Mormonism past the electorate disguised as Christianity is problematic to say the least.”

We Mormons believe in Christ, he is the Son of God and our Savior. That makes us Christians by definition (look it up) and no amount of disagreement from you or others changes that. We are not part of orthodox Christianity, but asserting that only orthodox Christians count as Christians is factually wrong.

I think most Americans will see it that way too given a fair chance to decide for themselves. Some won’t ever see it that way, but they are a minority.

Colofornian portrayals of Mitt’s record are not fully accurate, I would recommend checking http://www.freerepublic.com/~unmarkedpackage/

As for his accusations against the church, I rebutted those already in this post http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1917911/posts?page=273#273 but Colofornian chooses to ignore that in favor of cutting and pasting the same things over and over.

Do a 'rebuttal' of this piece of Smith fiction added to the end of the Book of Genesis:

JOSEPH SMITH TRANSLATION Fabrications … to the King James Bible using zero texts from which to 'translate'! From LDS source http://scriptures.lds.org/en/jst/10 ; Note, the fabricated portions are italicized; Smith started with KJV text and added for his purposes, to fabricate prophesies of himself and his works of Mormonism ‘scriptures‘.

GENESIS 50: 24-38

24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die, and go unto my fathers; and I go down to my grave with joy. The God of my father Jacob be with you, to deliver you out of affliction in the days of your bondage; for the Lord hath visited me, and I have obtained a promise of the Lord, that out of the fruit of my loins, the Lord God will raise up a righteous branch out of my loins; and unto thee, whom my father Jacob hath named Israel, a prophet; (not the Messiah who is called Shilo;) and this prophet shall deliver my people out of Egypt in the days of thy bondage.

25 And it shall come to pass that they shall be scattered again; and a branch shall be broken off, and shall be carried into a far country; nevertheless they shall be remembered in the covenants of the Lord, when the Messiah cometh; for he shall be made manifest unto them in the latter days, in the Spirit of power; and shall bring them out of darkness into light; out of hidden darkness, and out of captivity unto freedom.

26 A seer shall the Lord my God raise up, who shall be a choice seer unto the fruit of my loins.

27 Thus saith the Lord God of my fathers unto me, A choice seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and he shall be esteemed highly among the fruit of thy loins; and unto him will I give commandment that he shall do a work for the fruit of thy loins, his brethren.

28 And he shall bring them to the knowledge of the covenants which I have made with thy fathers; and he shall do whatsoever work I shall command him.

29 And I will make him great in mine eyes, for he shall do my work; and he shall be great like unto him who I have said I would raise up unto you, to deliver my people, O house of Israel, out of the land of Egypt; for a seer will I raise up to deliver my people out of the land of Egypt; and he shall be called Moses. And by this name he shall know that he is of thy house; for he shall be nursed by the king’s daughter, and shall be called her son.

30 And again, a seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and unto him will I give power to bring forth my word unto the seed of thy loins; and not to the bringing forth of my word only, saith the Lord, but to the convincing them of my word, which shall have already gone forth among them in the last days;

31 Wherefore the fruit of thy loins shall write, and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins, and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah, shall grow together unto the confounding of false doctrines, and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to a knowledge of their fathers in the latter days; and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord.

32 And out of weakness shall he be made strong, in that day when my work shall go forth among all my people, which shall restore them, who are of the house of Israel, in the last days.

33 And that seer will I bless, and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded; for this promise I give unto you; for I will remember you from generation to generation; and his name shall be called Joseph, and it shall be after the name of his father; and he shall be like unto you; for the thing which the Lord shall bring forth by his hand shall bring my people unto salvation.

34 And the Lord sware unto Joseph that he would preserve his seed forever, saying, I will raise up Moses, and a rod shall be in his hand, and he shall gather together my people, and he shall lead them as a flock, and he shall smite the waters of the Red Sea with his rod.

35 And he shall have judgment, and shall write the word of the Lord. And he shall not speak many words, for I will write unto him my law by the finger of mine own hand. And I will make a spokesman for him, and his name shall be called Aaron.

36 And it shall be done unto thee in the last days also, even as I have sworn. Therefore, Joseph said unto his brethren, God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land, unto the land which he sware unto Abraham, and unto Isaac, and to Jacob.

37 And Joseph confirmed many other things unto his brethren, and took an oath of the children of Israel, saying unto them, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.

38 So Joseph died when he was an hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and they put him in a coffin in Egypt; and he was kept from burial by the children of Israel, that he might be carried up and laid in the sepulchre with his father. And thus they remembered the oath which they sware unto him.

As anyone can readily see, Joe Smith fabricated a huge addition to this chapter ending in Genesis. Would one of you so ‘scholarly’ Mormonism Apologists like to tell us from whence Joe translated this long addition to Genesis? What text did he consult, or did he just ‘hear it from God and write it down for your edification … which edification you deem so secret that you do not tout it?

“So, Mormons do NOT believe that Satan is the SPECIFIC brother of our Lord, Jesus Christ?”

It’s very simple really. Heavenly Father is the father of the spirits of all, He brought your spirit, mine, Christ’s, Satan’s and everyone else’s into existence in the beginning (Christ first of all, hence his being called the Firstborn).

In the spiritual sense this makes us all part of one family, The Father is our father, the Father is Christ’s father, and the Father is even Satan’s father. Likewise, we are all brothers (and sisters) to each other, Christ and Satan in the spiritual sense.

I’m sure there are posters here who would love to have you leap to the conclusion that we think Mary gave birth to Satan as well or something like that, but those people are either ignorant or dishonest.
