SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- With the primary just three months away, the former "Law & Order" star and Tennessee senator is making a late bid to win the Republican nomination.
Although Thompson is lagging in polls, both in California and in key primary states like New Hampshire, he shrugs off criticism that he lacks the fire to win the nomination.
"We're getting around and carrying our message, you know, we've been a consistent conservative," Thompson said.
On immigration reform, Thompson is opposed to amnesty and wants to crack down on employers who hire illegals.
"We've got to do what's best for the country. I know there's some economic interests involved, and that's unfortunate," Thompson said.

I’m going to post this on the FRead thread unless jellybean beats me to it. Fred is going to be interviewed on Meet the Press on November 4th, for almost the full hour. A meet the candidate interview, the only other Republican so far is McCain.
