Your sophomoric post does not add to the thread.

In case you hadn't noticed, just about every thread involving some ancient archeological find that is GGG related is filled with 'sophomoric' posts and corny jokes throught the first several posts. I don't see you adding anything to the thread other than being the posting police.

Good post. Thanks!
I would have liked more details on the dating methods.
They are probably doing AMS dating on the associated artifacts, or maybe even the bones themselves.
The AMS techniques are really helping to clarify some of the earlier dating estimates.

He also said it "might" suggest that the custom of burying people with artefacts originated in western Europe rather than eastern Europe as had previously been thought. As you know, I am impatient with this idea that something has to originate in one spot and be copied by other, obviously not creative people. That said, pushing this site back so much further in time is fascinating. Where did they go, if anywhere, when the ice returned?

When discovered in a cave on Gower in the 1820s the bones were thought to be around 18,000 years old, but were later redated to between 25,000 and 26,000... The skeleton of the Red Lady - actually a young male - was discovered at Goat's Hole Cave at Paviland on Gower in 1823 by William Buckland, then a geology professor at Oxford University... The remains were found along with a number of artefacts including ivory wands, bracelets and periwinkle shells... "Many of the bones were treated with preservations in the 19th Century and some of this contamination is often difficult to remove." He said their analysis was the bones were "just over" 29,000 years old.
"...and we really mean it this time. And she, I mean, he, was interred by loved ones in Sheep's Hole Cave, oops, I mean, Goat's Hole, oh, what's the difference?!?"

Yes, isn’t it a shame so many of FR’s posters are mental midgets with nothing of substance to add to a thread? Their juvenile humor does not enhance this forum’s image or very purpose.

"Yes, isnt it a shame so many of FRs posters are mental midgets with nothing of substance to add to a thread? Their juvenile humor does not enhance this forums image or very purpose."Congratulations! You have just won this month's "most pompous jerk" prize...
So humor is something that's inappropriate on a site with conservatives, conspiracy theorists, reformed liberals, Republicans, Libertarians, drug enthusiats and tin helmet wearers?
Since you haven't availed yourself of any personal history on the FreeRepublic for us to bask in, just exactly what are your bona fides, that we should show the proper admiration?

My recollection is a post a while back estimated the British Isles have been the subject of a least half a dozen attempts by man or our predecessors to colonize them, who have been driven back each time - until now. The results of this attempt remain to be seen, in the next glacial.
