The GI Joe fansites have debunked this a while back when it first showed up. If this was printed in a recent headline, then the mainstreams are about 3 months late, as the story was on the GI Joe sites a while back and seems to have been false.
As for Destro, he’s always been a Scot.
I really wish Free Republic would go back to being about Our Country and our Constitution. I really hate seeing a title on the main page, clicking into it because of my interests, and find out it’s from the UK some bleeping where.

Well, sure. For boys to do boy stuff with. Let me tell you a true story.
My uncle thought as you do. He forbade my cousin from having any “dolls” as he called them. I had GI Joe, Star Trek, Star Wars, Batman, you name it.
Well, my cousin’s sister had dolls. Guess what he played with? Yes, her dolls. He was not allowed his own action figures, or as you like effeminately describe them, dolls.
I have little doubt that, because of my uncle’s attitude towards this and similar things, is the reason my cousin is now a flaming homosexual. They lived rurally so he only had a sister and her dolls to play with for most of his childhood. No wars, no battles, no complex plot lines revolving around a pile of dirt, the family dog and 4 plastic action figures.
I know you think you are doing a good thing by feminizing GI Joe and other action figures, but you aren’t. I assure you your attitude had the opposite effect on a child.

If they really do this he will no longer be GI Joe - he will be some limp-wristed, Euro-pansy toy in a one-worlder uniform but he won't be GI Joe.

I have been following the developments of the Stephen Sommers film. The media has it wrong and is using an outdated synopsis of the film. The Joe team will be based in the United States, now wheather they have an international component, I don’t know. I did hear Action Man owned by Hasbro was going to play a part in the movie, but has since been jettisoned from the script. The Global operating mumbo jumbo could still play a part of the script. This incarnation of Joe is the one who battles Cobra and is only 3 3/4 inches ala Star Wars action figure size.
