“Gray jumped into his black Maxima, where his 40-caliber Glock was located,”
Fellow “cop gun” owner. Cool.
“Fellow cop gun owner. Cool.”
Eh?
Does my NAA .22 qualify as a “cop gun”?
;-)

Not in Memphis. MPD uses the Sig-Sauer P226 in .40 S&W, after a previous lengthy period of utilization of various models of S&W semi-autos and revolvers.
About 5 years back, a Millington PD officer put a round from a .45 Glock into a teenaged car thief's head, whereupon one MPD supervisor declared that those cops who carried Glocks were a bunch of *cowboys.*
This at least resulted in the sale of some pretty neat off-duty headware for some of the other Millington cops, and was met with considerable amusement from the Memphis FBI folks whose personnel carried Glocks.
In the summer of 2004 a 12-year-old boy who was carrying a toy gun was shot to death by a West Memphis police officer, who apparently thought the gun was real. I'm not certain whether he was using one of the older S&Ws or a new SIG, but the .40 hollowpoint apparently w3orked as advertised.
Also back about 5 years, one of the MPD SWATzies was in the range with a full-auto H&K MP5 and got his hand in front of the muzzle while the gun was running. Ow, ow, ow ow ow!
