I would love to argue this case in front of a jury trial. Their 70 year old mother/grandmother, looking down the barrel of a shotgun while being carjacked and no one to help them because 'hired help' wasn't available. Just let him go until he gets the next mother/grandmother, maybe then there will be hired help around.
Remember 20-25 years ago when that young woman was being raped and murdered in the street of NYC and hundreds, if not thousands, of people heard her screams or watched and did NOTHING?
There's a reciprocity agreement among states allowing valid concealed gun permit holders to carry in any of the participating states.
This guy deserves a medal.
But the government (COPS) don;t like competition - even they are doing their customary miserable job of harassing motorists instead of chasing the bad guys.
Take a look at the KelTec PF9, as small or smaller than the PPK/s and fires a full patch 9x19 - you can even use +P upon occasion if needed. I know, some folks look down on the piece, but it is one of the smallest carry pistols with 9mm ammo. I'm just saying - worth a look.
Oops!!
Tennessee has reciprocity with Mississippi on gun permits, including CCW.
He fired at the guy after the guy pointed a shotgun at him. He only fired again, when the guy didn't have the shotgun, when the guy got up and came at him.
100% self defense.
Citizens have to take responsibility for their own safety and for enforcing the laws. We can never have enough cops with enough power to protect us without it becoming a police state. The important part of the second amendment is the first part:
A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free state,
At the time this was written the "militia" was well understood to be the male citizens of the area. Period. And to preserve a "free state" they have to take responsibility for the common defense and for enforcing the laws. Recognizing the possibility of excesses, the "vigilante" fear, the militia should be "well regulated," which I interpret to mean "trained and led" by professionals. And in order for the well trained and properly led group of citizens to be effective:
the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
I have no problems with firearms laws that require marksmanship and safety training or even require training on applicable laws. In fact I think it's the way we should go, so long as we can be sure that those firearms laws aren't written so that the training is somehow prohibitive, such as costing an obscene amount or requiring a ludicrous test for passing.
Wait a second....his mom was safe, and then he still chased the guy and got into what amounts to be a running gun fight in public?
Damn right there ought to be charges.
Feel better now?
I live in Missippi, just the next town west of this one. We have the “Castle Doctrine” here to protect life and property.
cite and release him for failing to finish the job
Or, how about this....Mom & Dad are living with the son??? It’s a possibility.
Exactly!
I also shot 150 rounds last weekend.Took about a minute and a half. The MP-5 really can go through some ammo.
Thanks for the article. I thought it was a lot more than 38 who heard the screams.
Investigators were sympathetic to Gray’s emotional state, caused by seeing a gun at his mother’s head, but weren’t eliminating the possibility that he could be charged with a crime for taking the law into his own hands.
***That’s one Jury Notice I would respond to. Not Guilty. Oops, said it too soon.
‘I also shot 150 rounds last weekend.Took about a minute and a half. The MP-5 really can go through some ammo.’
I bet.....(chuckle)
I was shooting a Ruger and a S&W, both 9 mm.
This weekend its shotguns, and rifles...in addition to some more work with the pistols. I’ve kinda gotten away from practice the past few years, and am now ‘back at it’.
From the story, dod you have a reading problem?
Yep.
The rule of the “Three S’s” can be abbreviated, but should always include “Shut Up” ;)
