"Um hello? Minks are wild animals, they're SUPPOSED to live in the wild! They survived thousands of years out in the elements, they'll be fine." But these are "tame" mink, raised in captivity. it's not like they were captured from the wild and put on mink farms. They haven't developed any hunting and gathering skills that a wild mink would have learned from it's mother mink. I don't even think mink are indigenous to Germany, their normal wild food sources may not be available.

If you released a house cat into the wild it could fend for itself. I'm pretty sure mink can too. As for their food source, they're carnivores, they eat stuff like mice, birds, even deer, all of which can be found in Germany.

They’ll get by on chickens, birds, cats, pigeons, any other small animals they can catch. They’re tough, clever and not nice at all.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they would attack toddlers or small children if they are hungry enough.
This reminds me of the idiots who thought to clear out snakes in places like Jamaica and Fiji by bringing in Mongooses (mongeese?). They took care of the snakes all right. And then started right in on the chickens.
A lot of these animals are going to die, but a lot aren’t. Those that survive and breed are going to make pests of themselves — dangerous pests — for many years to come.
