I doubt Jindal will propose anything truly sweeping in they way of reigning in government. I wouldn't blame him because he knows the legislature would not stop laughing at him... sad. Socialism is a cancer that will likely bring us to our knees. They is no easy solution.

Hey, if you're the expert why don't you come up with some specific proposals and send them to Bobby? Of course he has already proposed a raft of specific new ideas and has promised to call the legislature into session on his first day in office to get started. But since you already know Bobby's agenda will fail it seems like a good time for you to help out.

(If my response seems harsh to you, please ask yourself the likely effect on Louisiana of people clinging to cynical attitudes such as yours at this moment when Louisiana has the greatest oportunity for reform that it has had in many years. Bobby addressed this issue (cynicism) explicitly in his acceptance speech on election night and since. Was he wrong to point this out as a significant barrier to progress?)

my, aren't you sensitive.

It is a certainty that I will have no effect of the success or failure of Bobby. I am certain he has good intentions. I am by no means a cynic. I am quite happy in my life. I view government in the same lens as our Founders -- with deep suspicion. When one considers the growth of government at all levels these past 100 years, it is quite rational to state that there is little chance of "true" reform that would jump start Louisiana or any other government. I call it being realistic.

He is right to point this out. With all good intentions and energy considered, Bobby needs to convince the state legislators to pass sweeping reform. The Louisiana legislature is like most others -- filled with petty busybodies who relish passing this law or that, taking away more of our Liberties. I will not be disappointed it he only manages to change things at the margins.

Now, if Bobby could get the legislature to get rid of the state income tax and reduce spending in a consummate fashion, that would be surprising. That would propel him into Presidential considerations. Have a nice day :)
