Early Christians, particularly Eastern Christians, believed that the process of salvation was essentially the divinization of man.

They were called Gnostics, and they were heretics. They were drummed out of the Church in the 1st Century. The Gnostics were screened out of the early church by a series of questions that morphed into what we call, "The Apostles Creed."

And no, a devout Mormom cannot say the Apostles Creed without exploding, theologically-speaking.

Mormons are not Christians. Joseph Smith and Brigham Young both believed that Christianity was an abomination. Well, we haven't changed our doctrine since the 19th Century, so it puzzles me why Mormons want to embrace us now.

Divinization does not refer to the Gnostics.
Mormons have no problem with the Apostles Creed.
And Joseph Smith and Brigham Young did not think Christianity was an abomination.

I think you should become a little suspicious about your sources of information.

I think if the Mormons ever get the feeling that Christianity is an abomination, it would be because of all the misinformed hate that gets poured out in their direction.
