I started where you are and was saved.
++++++++++++++++++++++
another question, How do you know your saved? Did you get a feeling, did someone tell you, is it because you accepted the words in the Bible, did a vision come to you, did an angle come and visit you.
As they used to say in the Ozarks:
“If’n she not be good enuff fer family; who else’d want her?”
(My apologies to any offended Ozarkians!)
Acts 10:10-15
10. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.
11. He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.
12. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air.
13. Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
14. "Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."
15. The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."1 Corinthians 8:8
But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
It is the same few that struggle who are not able to understanding hard things, and they can only draw upon their natural man mind so just let be.
Since this is one of the most asked questions of Satan, it is quite important that Christians have an answer.
Did you get a feeling, did someone tell you, is it because you accepted the words in the Bible, did a vision come to you, did an angle come and visit you.
Just as at times I don't FEEL very married, I have a piece of paper that confirms that I am.
No one came to me one day and said, "Elsie: you're married." - it was something I had agreed to; along with another person.
No 'vision' appeared to me and the only time I was visited by an angle was long ago in Trigonometry class! ;^)
"Psssst"
"How do you KNOW you are saved?"
1 John 5:11-13
11. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
"Ha!! Mere words! How do you KNOW!?!?!?"
"Good point; but since I believe in the name of the Son of God I'm trusting that He knows for sure.
"See you at the judgement seat."
"Bah!"
I don't want anything except God's will. Since Christ came into my life, I don't look to myself, what I have, what I do, who I do, or what other's think of me, I think very little of gratification of my needs and wants. I live for Christ. In all the ways I fail, I don't fail ME, I fail HIM and I ask for forgiveness and get it.
This is totally different than when I was Mormon and my world revolved around my own actions, my own gratification, my own standing in the world, my own covenants and how well I kept them. How I appeared to others who were my judge (like my Bisop, Stake President, other members). Mormonism (even though it is denied) is all about what YOU do and not what Christ did.....after all Christ simply died so you can live forever....it is YOU who really must do the work of ordinances and covenants in order to GET there. Mormonism is all about appearance - and so we get men like Mitt. Hollow shells who twist and turn with every wind. Always worried about their own performance and ready to be anything to impress someone, say anything to reach the goal whether or not it is truthful or not.
My focus as a Christian have turned from me to HIM and that's how I know I am saved. I WANT to pray, I WANT to read the Bible, I Want to please God. Do I always do it? Nope, not perfectly....God knows that, and has already covered my sins with the blood of Christ. To think that puny, falible me could DO anything more than that is the biggest vanity and self-focus I could ever perform. That type of thinking places one above God and His son, and makes you think YOU are in the position of glory since you EARNED it! You aren't in the position of Grace....it was GIVEN!
Can't use BY's words...every time I post them now, I hear howls of "THAT'S not in our 'approved scriptures!'"
Anyway, the "prophet" will just have a new revelation that fits the bill.....perhaps that NEW golden plates have been discovered on a hill far away and are now locked up for safety in the vaults of the LDS church while they are being translated.
AND Mitt will believe it.
Why am I not surprised at this comment? What then, is the purpose of your prolonged "discussion" and the questions you ask? There have been better presentations by sincere posters who openly proselytize.
In any case, you have presented many opportunities for Christian discussion. We thank you.
Meant to ping you to 850
What then, is the purpose of your prolonged “discussion” and the questions you ask?

Your the ones who want to save me.

If that is what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints really was, I would run to.
Let me ask you fproy, what is it that Jesus “saved” you from if He is your Savior?
1 John 5:11-13
11. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13. I write these things to you who BELIEVE in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
