Is this one of those guys who says that “perception” is all there is to reality? I mean, is he one who says that we call a square a square because we all agree it is a square? That a square is only a square because we “perceive” it that way?

Because, if he is, he has fallen for the foolishness of philosophy. Because, no matter how hard we try to decide that a square is now a circle, it does not lose its pointy corners. Our perception will NOT change a square to a circle just because we decide to call it something else!

Most philosophers fall for the Human as God fallacy by assuming that perception is reality. That anything we decide it to be, will be.

But, I got news for them. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to see it... it STILL FALLS.

There was a young man who said ‘God
Must find it exceedingly Odd
When he find that this tree
Continues to be
When there’s no one about in the Quad’

And of course the response...

Dear Sir, your astonishment’s Odd
I’m always about in the Quad
And that’s why this tree
continues to be
since observed by yours faithfully
God
