I’m well aware of the position Armitage held as chief deputy to Colin Powell at State. That is most certainly NOT part of the “White House staff” and Armitage was known to be hostile to Bush/Cheney policy on Iraq. Yes, many MSM hacks help the Wilsons with their fairy tales by trying to assimilate Armitage with the WH, but in reality what Armitage was doing in feeding info to Woodward and Armitage (which was how the Plame CIA role leaked) was playing a game for State vs. the White House, NOT acting on behalf of the WH to ‘retaliate’ against idiot Joe Wilson by ‘exposing’ his idiot wife.

Armitage was not a deputy to Cheney, Rove, or Libby. Yes, he was part of the “Bush admin.” broadly speaking, but he and Powell acted much of the time with their own agenda and most certainly were not lackeys of Karl Rove carrying out a political hit on Joe and Valerie Wilson (which is how the MSM has portrayed the matter). My previous post holds up perfectly well in light of the actual facts, thank you.

If you want to walk out onto a plank stating that the Deputy Secretary of State is only associated with the administration “broadly speaking” that’s fine with me. My opinion is that position is far too important to be dismissed as inconsequential.

I think this Plame deal is blown way out of proportion, but trying to claim that the next in line to the Secretary of State is not closely aligned with the administration is reaching. And, for the record, Armitage’s tenure in that position outlasted Powell’s.

Look. This thing stinks to high heaven. I wouldn’t wallow in it if I were you.
