Okay, how did a guy get nominated for Queen? That’s gender specific. He wasn’t even eligible. This is now obviously sexual in nature rather than just about electing a King and Queen - they were elected as a gay couple, not as two students winning the respective titles for their homecoming. Are you really unable to see the very clear distinction here? Think, please.

This thing was set up by the way the school administration had the student body vote. There were NO NOMINATIONS. The whole thing was a WRITE IN. “no names appeared on the ballot. Students wrote in their own candidates.” Therefore, the students could have written in anyone. In fact, there could have been only 2 votes that were the same, with everyone else who voted being for a wide mix of classmates. Then those 2 would have been the majority winner. They could have written in two straight guys, or two straight girls just to stir things up.

Back in the dark ages when I was in school, the sports teams nominated the King and Queen candidates. Then those names were put on a ballot and the rest of the school voted. They often weren’t a real “couple” but were just two popular (often athlete) kids.
