You wrote: It doesn't mean you hate your homosexual neighbors if you object to two boys being voted in as homecoming "princes", unless we've reached the point where opposition to any demand by homosexuals is considered to be "hate"

They didn't demand it. They were voted into it. They were chosen by their fellow students. Are you aware of them demanding or getting special treatment?

In a sense, you are preaching to the choir, because as I said, I don't have and won't have children in public school. But if there is going to be a public school system, it needs to be equal.

Not having tax-payer funded schools would solve so many problems. It would allow you to put your money where you like for your children's education. I'm doing my part toward this goal by avoiding the public system.

They did indeed receive special treatment, because the position of homecoming king & queen are gender specific positions. You might just as well argue that we should sanction same-sex "marriages" because all they're asking for is the same treatment as male-female couples. But in reality, that's not all they're asking for. They're asking us to change a multi-thousand year old institution to satisfy practitioners of a deviant sex fetish.

Yes, the poor dumbed-down kids voted for them. But then again, how many actually voted for them? They usually don't have run-off elections for things like that. They could have won with something like 18% of the vote for all we know. Even in liberal Davis, most of the kids probably wanted, you know, a boy for king and a girl for queen. Shocking as that may seem in our fantasyland society of today.

But if there is going to be a public school system, it needs to be equal.

Equal is the problem when equal means a sexual preference that can change. With absolutely no evidence anybody is born gay and a growing body of evidence that gays and lesbians can leave the homosexual lifestyle, we should contemplate the wisdom in promoting same-sex attraction in government schools. This includes allowing the student body to vote for two princes.

Also, and unfortunately, equal ignores ex-gays in government schools. It would be best if they left the entire issue alone but that's not going to happen. Since government schools are promoting same-sex attraction issues, perhaps government schools should spend as much time, money and energy promoting ex-gays and the very real possibility of change.
