He's retiring from Congress

The one place he could continue to do actual good. He's got committee ranking and the respect of the majority of his peers, and he is one of the most principled conservative congressmen in that city.

But he's throwing that all away to put on his Don Quixote helmet and go spar with the big boys. If he wasn't quitting congress, I wouldn't say this but since he is, I will: irresponsible.

Yea, but being the Ranking Republican on a committee when the DemonRats control that house, or in this case both houses, make the position worth about the same as the Vice Presidency when the VP is brought on to bring "balance" to the ticket. IOW, not worth a bucket of warm spit (well the original was not "spit", but another 4 letter bodily fluid.)
