The only stat that matters is the percentage of GDP. If you learned nothing else from Reagan, its that economic growth cures all.

Govt spending as a percentage of GDP is currently the LOWEST in almost forty years because the current tax policy is advangeous to investment and growth.

Which is why the national “debt” is about as phony an issue as “global warming” on the scale of boutique boogeymen.
