"Not only the USS Liberty attack"

...oh, here we go again. It was a mistake, mistakes happen in war.

"why one of our greatest allies used Jonathan Pollard to commit espionage in the United States?"

Almost all countries spy on each other, even friendly ones. We do it too.

"There is a reason that George Washington spoke of not having "entangling alliances" with other countries. He was a lot wiser than anyone that has led us in the past 100 years or so."

I agree that Washington was wise, wiser than most we've had, but he and his cause were a great beneficiary of America's first entangling alliance - the alliance with Bourbon France that secured our independence.

why wouldn’t Mt oysters be kosher? As long as they come from a kosher animal slaughtered properly, the parts should
all be equally kosher. Deuteronomy doesn’t mention a special
rule for this, does it?

Gaby Bron has his own theories about why the Liberty was attacked.

Not as far as I know, they just are a bit “offbeat” when one thinks about Kosher food.

A valiant, but futile effort at equivocation on your part.

In what way is that equivocation? Israel didn't do anything the US hasn't done to each and every one of its allies, including to Israel. Multiple Israeli Defense Force officers have revealed secret information to the CIA. The idea that the Pollard case in any way represents a "betrayal" of the United States is absurd.

"Marom, 52, trained as an engineer and ascended through the ranks, overseeing major naval operations such as the 2002 capture of an Iranian-supplied weapons ship en route to Gaza."

Israel has a good man commanding the Navy. All the best to "Chiney" & good hunting!

Back when I was in the Army, I had a woman E-4 to whom I referred to as a Spic; that’s “Specialist in Charge”

Why? (rhetorical). Now, this passes the criteria for racist.

LMAO about me being racist.

Sorry JMP. You must have a pro chinese agenda. Citizens of Chinese descent have a hugh track record of sending national and company secrets back to their Chinese homeland. It's happening in the US, Canada and just about every country in the world. Again Isreal. Watch this guy.

I don't condone or excluse Pollard. He should rot in Jail. Period.

Yes, Pollard was guilty of espionage. But a life sentence? Totally disproportionate to the degree of the crime. Unfortunately, the US criminal code is very poorly written in not differntiating between various degrees of espionage, as contrasted with many other crimes. No way one spying for an ally should be given the same sentence as spying for an enemy, and Pollard - consistent with other cases involving others spying for allies - should have been given a sentence in the neighborhood of five years. LIFE? No way! Since he has been "rotting" for close to twenty years now ("courtesy" of a draconian sentence imposed on him by a Carter-appointed Dem hack judge), a commutation of his sentence to time served is the only just way to go at this time. He would certainly pose absolutely no future national security risk when and if released.

He’s probably been called “Chiney” most of his life and I doubt HE’s offended by it.

Thx for your good points.

I understand the arguments for Pollard not getting Life and agree with some of them.

His sentence IS out of proportion to equivalent acts and even the deal he was Ostensibly promised by prosecutors for cooperating.

As an American Jew however, I could Never have done what he did. Never.
I was taught to Kiss the wonderful ground exclusively America has been for Jews.. and I do.

One can make valid arguments for his realease.. but I consider unseemly for me or other Jews to do so.
It just leaves a bad taste with me.
