Edwards raps excess greed
DES MOINES - Democrat John Edwards yesterday released a plan he said would demand corporate responsibility, including limits on executive compensation packages and requirements that big businesses operate more openly.
The presidential candidate said his plan would also restore retirement security for the middle class through tax overhauls and savings help, allowing more people to put aside money and purchase stock from companies. He said those companies would perform better for regular workers under his proposed corporate changes.
Edwards said that a culture of greed has taken over and that while profits are skyrocketing on Wall Street, "Main Street is drowning under a sea of costs and debt."
"Instead of protecting the compact of equal opportunity and shared prosperity, Washington protects corporate profits and hoards prosperity of the few," he told a crowd in downtown Des Moines. "This is wrong, it is shameful, and it is bad for our economy to boot."

What struck me funnay about this, is the efforts by Edwards and the American Bar Association since 2004 (when Edwards was in the limelight from his first Prez run) to kill congressional legislation (which they did kill, of course) which would have imposed an "excess fees" tax on contingency fees "earned" by trial lawyers.
For example, trial lawyer takes contingency case of a baby who is oxygen deprived during birth, and is born with horrible, life-long mental deficits, etc. In today's world, pretty much a "slam dunk" for the trial lawyer, who doesn't end up doing much work before the case is settled for, let's say $6million. Lawyer takes 1/3 off the top (typical) for $2million profit. For a few months work, and not many hours put in, a "windfall."
Seems to me, this is comparable to the "windfall" that the corporate executives are accused of practically stealing from their companies. (Of course, the execs are likely earning lots of money for their companies, and their compensation is a matter of contract with their companies.....)
Anyway, the libs and Edwards don't see the hypocrisy inherent in these two.
Edwards is such a slimeball.
Is this from Scrappleface?
Oh man, this is good. "Nuff said!
Edward’s campaign is the Monty Python of American Politics.
What a hypocrital creep!! How about limits on Big Lawering!!! Gullible Democrats will fall for this.
Edwards is in this race for his ego, money and contacts. He knows he hasn’t a prayer of winning. Maybe he secretly fantasizes about being VP dominated by the beast?

America can count on Jon Edwards doing away with greed.
Or 27,000 sq ft houses, or $500 haircuts the Breck boy has?
And yet the Democrat's answer to us paying too much for things like gasoline, heating oil and just about anything else we use it to increase the gas tax and repeal tax cuts. They want to help "Main Street" economically by forcing businesses to increase prices on the products "Main Street" needs to live their lives. And hey, and what better way to encourage people to pay off their debt than by increasing their debt burden with higher interest rates and decreasing the amount of out-of-pocket money they have to pay their bills in the first place with higher taxes? Pure genius! Marx would be so proud!
No, its from the AP as posted on the Boston Globe web site.
BUMP!
Quite the rapper, that Edwards. /sarcasm
It’s OKAY for Edwards to be as greedy as possible though. All those trumped up cases where he made oodles as a lawyer - well that’s okay! Look at how he lives! That’s okay too.
What’s he going to put on that back lot, his own personal gay-pride museum, or gay-Olympic stadium?
Those aren’t SUV’s parked in his driveway, are they???
Say it ain’t so, John, say it ain’t so!!!
-speaking for excess and greed, have you seen John Edwards’ HOUSE? LOL
"Instead of protecting the compact of equal opportunity and shared prosperity, Washington protects corporate profits and hoards prosperity of the few,"

Silky Pony must be taking his wife's meds.
