Miracle Marine Comes Home By Amy Wood | Posted Friday, October 26, 2007 Theyve called him the miracle marine, from the moment he made it across the ocean and back to the U.S. where hes gone through hundreds of surgeries, never ending rehab, and the challenges few of us can imagine when youve lost both legs.
Andrew Kinard is tough because hes a Marine. But hes even tougher because hes one of Gods soldiers.
His mission all these months has been to feel the prayers of tens of thousands, and trust that he could make it with Gods help. If youve tracked Andrews progress on his < a href=[http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/andrewkinard]>[Caring Bridge]< /a>website like more than a half million visitors have, then you know how determined hes been to walk again. And you know how many ups and downs Andrew has seen along the way.
First Baptist wanted to bring him home for this celebration so he could SEE what hes been feeling for months. The power of prayer.
It wouldnt surprise me to see a sea of people like weve never seen before in the streets of Spartanburg around 12:45 Saturday afternoon. Theyll line Converse Street to welcome Andrew home.
While Id love to cover Andrews homecoming Saturday, this is a rare opportunity to share with my children the power of a true American Hero who has covered himself in Gods armor.
So yes, if you are going, we may run into each other. And my flag will be waving as we celebrate Andrews victory of faith.
