One more sneaky liberal trick, one more person standing up to it.

"Monument as it is atop the stone column, and then explained "there's not enough room," for the cap display to allow people to read the fourth side." Put it on a motorized base so that it rotates. Won't take up any more room than it does now, and allows visitors to see all sides. More "politically correct" BS from the Fedgov bureaucracy.

When will we have enough of this?
Like the libs, I think everybody should start injecting Conservative and Christian “talking points” into every conversation. Make it a point when speaking to any public servant, regardless of station, to throw in a line of support for God and our Conservative beliefs. And then add, oh, I forgot, you’re forbidden to acknowledge God’s Greatness due to the separation of Church and State.

Thanks for the ping.
This is another dreadful development that The General himself would have been aghast at. He was a church-going, God-fearing man who believed that Divine Providence had kept him safe during his many battles since He had a plan for him.
This flies in the face of historical fact and is nothing short of an abomination to God and to the greatest American who ever lived.

I hope that we will raise enough cain before they start dismantling the Jefferson Monument, which is full of scripture.

At this very moment, I am working on developing "history interpretation" concepts for sites in the region surounding historic Caddo Lake in Texas and Louisana.
Perhaps some enterprising group could build a motor-driven turntable that slowly rotates the top of the pedestal on which the cap rests -- so that all sides are made visible. (Inexpensive clock-drive motors are readily available...)
Similarly, a public (and publicised) donation of a new interpretive placard to go under the cap-- with a "compass rose" to indicate the direcion each side faces atop the monument, and returning to the 2000 wording -- could be made and presented.
Seems to me that, with a large public outcry, (and with no dollar outlay on their part) the NPS would be forced to accept and use the donated "interpretive display aids"... .

LOL! GMTA!! (See #8.)
That is such a simple and obvious solution that you just know the NPS's lame "reasons" for not using it are atheist-driven...

Let's see: who has been the President during the period of the change? Was it the liberal Democrats Al Gore or John Kerry? Who controlled one or both houses of Congress during this time? Was it the Democrats? No in both cases.
Sorry, RINOs and Bushbots, this change cannot be blamed on Clinton, Reid, Pelosi, and associates.

Put it on a motorized base so that it rotates. Good idea!

Rotating platforms for Christmas (oops) Holiday (sorry) Winter trees are not uncommon at flea markets and garage sales.
Seems ready-made for this purpose.
Note: Strikethroughs intended as sarcasm.

Anti-God sentiment seems to run high in this country, even here at FreeRepublic. As much as Bush claims to be a Christian, he hasn’t done much to help the cause.

This is an excerpt from
http://www.glasssteelandstone.com/BuildingDetail/353.php “Much has been written about the phrase “Laus Deo” appearing at the capstone of the Washington Monument. In fact, so much has been written that it’s taking on the appearance of an urban legend. While, technically, it is true that the Latin phrase meaning “Praise to God” is engraved at the top of the monument, it is disingenuous to state that fact without putting it into context: The phrase is just a very small part of a much larger series of engravings."
Very small part? The entire east face contains nothing but Laus Deo!
To: Man50D
Laus Deo faces the east. The highest point in the District of Columbia is 555 feet above sea level. The height of the monument is 555 feet and the base is a little above sea level. The height of the monument was chosen so that when the sun rises the first thing in DC that its light shines on is the side of the cap that says "Praise God."
