Tom Davis not likely to run for Senate (VA)

Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) is expected to announce that he will not be running for the seat of retiring Republican Sen. John Warner, according to a senior Virginia Republican familiar with Davis’ plans.

The seven-term congressman began telling close friends of his intentions last week.

His decision would leave former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore as the only GOP Senate candidate left in a state that had been reliably Republican but where Democrats have won two consecutive governor’s races and, in 2006, unexpectedly nabbed the other Senate seat.

I can’t bear to read the comments section on the Politico’s website anymore! Either the Moonbats are on duty 24/7.... most likely the case... or there are more f’n STUPID people in DC than there are in MA!

Now there’s a tough election!

Jim Gilmore is a good guy. Low key, but gets the job done. I’m sorry he couldn’t get more traction in his presidential run, but he will make a lot better senator than John Warner.

Mark Warner was the butthead who cut the hours on liquor stores and the DMV. Gilmore has my vote!

It was a Republican legislature that passed the bill for the Democrat governor to sign into law. :(

I like Gilmore fine. He is a nice guy.

But someome like Pace might be able to actually win. I am not sure Gilmore can against warner.

Between Tom Davis and Al Franken, I wish Davis would run for the Senate and Franken would run for Cuba.
Honestly, I can’t understand how those two ever got along.
