This issue has real implications for the country. It captures all the American people's anger and frustration not only with immigration, but with the economy," said Rep. Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus and an architect of the Democratic congressional victories of 2006. "It's self-evident. This is a big problem."
Republicans, sensing a major vulnerability, have been hammering Democrats, forcing Congress to face the question of illegal immigration on every bill they can find, from agriculture spending and housing assistance to the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

This is a winning message.
“Remember the 1986 immigration amnesty? One of its beneficiaries was Mahmoud abu Halima, who went on to bomb the World Trade Center in 1993. His friend Mohammad Salameh wasn’t so fortunate. He applied for the ‘86 amnesty but was rejected. So he just stayed on in America, living illegally, and happily was still around to help Mahmoud and co-attack the Twin Towers. He’s the guy who rented the truck, which suggests he had enough ID to get past the rental agent at Ryder.” - Mark Steyn

First off—they HATE the US.
They DESPISE us as a people.
They come here in knowing violation of our laws to RIP US OFF.
Could it be that the “Stupid Party” is finally dumping Jorge and getting wise?
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.................
>GOP Finds Hot Button in Illegal Immigration
GOP finds that Americans do not want, and will not support, illegal immigration/invasion.
Fixed.
Yes! ENFORCE THE LAWS NOW!
Anyone else notice the new buzzword for illegal immigrants is ‘migrants’? Be sure to complain to your local media when they try to pass of FELONS as simply ‘migrants’!
of=off
Time for me coffee, methinks!
“This issue has real implications for the country.”
DUH!
Oy!! me=MORE!!
I’m outta here to get some breakfast before my brain melts down any more, LOL.
I have two friends who are both completely, utterly and totally liberal from start to finish. As in, Bill Clinton was the best president ever kind of liberals. Even they are completely up in arms about illegal immigration and have had it. That should speak volumes to the GOP but, it won’t.
Jobs Americans wont do?

How about the job George Bush, Cherkoff and the RINOs don’t seem to be able to handle (in direct violation of the law)?

The “message” doesn’t mean much to me if they’ve just recently discovered it.
The GOP “found” this hot button issue...which their base has been screaming at them about for years?
“The message doesnt mean much to me if theyve just recently discovered it.”
Oh come on - it takes a “little” time for such busy people to comprehend something fully. Cut ‘em some slack!

Wonder what the Posts believes is a hot-button issue for Dems? Oh yea, we lose in Iraq because Al Quida isn’t in Iraq and its the wrong war in the wrong place. If we weren’t in Iraq we could put all our resources into finding Bin Laden. I believe that summarizes the Dem point of view - also, everyone needs insurance so that the bankrupt Dem cities have a new source of funds to pay for the Dem plantation. You know, the place where Dems don’t work and are not expected to pay for their needs (oh forgot, their rights).
What kind of doubletalk nonsense is that?
ILLEGAL Law-Abiding Immigrants.
The hot button found them, is more like it, with a few rare exceptions.
Apples and oranges. A typical liberal trick - take a hot issue and blend it with another "warm button" issue to lessen the impact.
From what I have seen locally (Nevada, Arizona), ILLEGAL immigration is THE hot button, nothing else.
