Just another aspect of the inevitable, fast approaching, North American Union.

Great, we’re training thier second generation of protection for the drug lords. The first group of Mexican drug warriors all got better offers on the black market. What’s going to prevent these new ones from being bought by the cartels too?

Maybe an end to prohibition......?

Why doesn’t Mexico just pump some more oil to pay for this?

Another Bush plan to put money in the hands of Mexico’s richest including the drug kingpins. Let’s spend the money on border control which will do more to control drugs than paying off the Mexican billionaires.

The aid packages are part of what the Bush administration hopes will be a multiyear, $1.4 billion initiative.

Sure, George. It isn't your money, after all.

Pathetic.

Twenty years ago a top member of the Mexican cabinet and two top army generals were reported to be on the traffickers payroll. The State Department asked the Mexican government if they wanted to do anything about it. The answer was “get lost Gringos.” Ten years ago there was the problem of corruption at the highest levels in the states of Sinaloa and Sonora. The State Department got the same response. Now, we are about to pay for a program which is likely another Mexican rathole to be stuffed with American cabbage. You cannot understand the depth and extent of crime and corruption in Mexico unless you have lived there.

I doubt it extends beyond the bold ignorance and raw stupidity of the American taxpayer.

Agree! Shoot to kill at the border.

How they are approaching it is just flushing money down the toiled at YOUR expense. No wonder they did this deal in secret.

I don’t think we should have a shoot to kill policy at the border. I think we should have a fully fenced and patrolled border, with illegal crossers immediately arrested and immediately sent back to the other side of the wall.
