PELHAM, N.H. — Republican presidential hopeful John McCain said Monday that a new message from Al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden in which he scolds his followers in Iraq proves that U.S. efforts there are succeeding.

"Basically he encouraged the extreme elements — Al Qaeda in Iraq particularly in the Sunni areas — to join together and be more effective in bringing terrorism and murder and suicide bombings to Iraq and to Anbar province," McCain said. "It's a clear sign that we are succeeding in Iraq because people got very tired of Al Qaeda taking their young women, killing their young women, killing their people, and acting in the most brutal fashion that they are."

One thing I like about McCain is he has always been rock steady on Iraq. If it really is Osama then it's no wonder he is desperate. If they can't win in Iraq then they can't win anywhere. That must be a very unpleasent surprise for Osama.

very rock solid on foreign policy and pork spending. Hunter can learn from him on the latter and McCain would do well to learn from Hunter on immigration

Who needs all this late-life learning? We already have Fred Thompson.

Agree. That's why it is important to have his voice on the campaign trail even though his chances are slim.

This is the one issue that McCain has been consistently correct on, including, in my opinion, his early criticisms of Rumsfeld’s WarLite strategy. Too bad McCain is such a big, big loser on so many other issues.

You think Osama is upset? What about the MSM? Having to ignore good news and work your butt off finding negative stuff about the U.S. effort isn't making for a pleasant time for his media partners either.

OK Dems, the ring leader in your circus has admitted he’s getting his ass kicked. Now what are you gonna do? Your cut and run bills didn’t pass, and Osama’s letting you know. Gotta work a little harder to cut off support for the US now, eh? Like maybe, oh I dunno, piss off Turkey?

It's my opinion that Bin Laden is dead.

These tapes we're seeing are frauds...compliments of our own CIA.

The latest one asking for Sunni and Shiites to come together is just another ploy to bring the jihad-prone to come out into the open.

For logistic purposes alone...we need to stay in Iraq.

Iran and Syria are the enemies right now, and hopefully Israel together with the USA, can neutrualize them for at least another generation.

Ah, McFeign.

One question for you, Senator: If you're so deeply concerned with campaign finance and the corruption it generates, then why are you so deferential to Sen. Clinton? She's the very poster child for everything you claim to hate!

Hillary is plainly, openly and flagrantly in violation of numerous campaign finance laws, including those you sponsored and blathered about ad nauseam.

Senator McCain, why don't you publicly denounce Senator Clinton and demand that she be tried in the Senate (she's already been dropped as a defendant in court by her corrupt cronie judge) for her repeated, public criminal acts???
