Osirak. Israel was criticized even by the Reagan administration (especially Bush/Baker) for the 81 bombing

Diplomacy is a subtle game. Israel was criticized for blowing up Osirak, but only mildly -- by the US, and even by the other Arab states. Interest trumps ethnicity, and none of Iraq's Arab neighbors wanted Iraq to build a nuke. Remember that, at least in part, the current War on Terror is rooted in the US effort to defend the Saudis against the Iraqis.

So many will never get it, that so subtle fact that we are managing the Mid East so as to keep the Saudi Oil from coming under unfriendly control. It is not a bad thing, just the reality. And in the meantime we get to kill thousands of rat islamofascists on Mid East soil rather than on American soil. If it ever actually gets unmanagable we can turna few Arab cities into glass covered parking lots. But the democrats are creating just enough obstruction so that the option of what to do when it gets unmanable is fast being lost. The democrats are more of a threat to this nation than the Islamofascists.
